Goldmining

Dear Friend,

Jason bringing Pelias the Golden Fleece; a winged victory prepares to crown him with a wreath. 340 BC–330 BC. (Source:Wikipedia)

In May, I began studying for a Master’s Degree in Archetypal Cosmology and Conscious Evolution.  Although I’m a newbie, so far I understand it to be a study of our psyches as a reflection and expression of archetypes, particularly the archetypes that are revealed in the astrological signs and planets.  This study then leads to the ability to work consciously with these archetypes to further personal evolution and the evolution of humanity as a whole.  It’s an exciting and challenging course already and I’m sure I will understand it much more as I get deeper into it.

As I focus my attention on this new branch of astrological knowledge, I find I have less time to devote to this column.  I am loathe to let it go, but I feel the need to go deeper and deeper until I get to the bottom of something I’ve been exploring for a long time, and in order to take that journey I need to curtail some of my other activities.

So I’ve decided to take a pause, not a break, for a while.  I have many plans for this blog in the future and will undoubtedly continue to post from time to time.  For those who have been with me since the beginning or have joined more recently, I hope to pick up with you again on a more regular basis in the future, when I’ll be able to bring a whole new layer of understanding and meaning to astrology for business.  The intersection of these two environments, astrology and business, is still my interest and there is still so much to explore.

The best bet is to subscribe using the RSS feed, so you’ll know when I post, or when I get back to more frequent blogging.  And don’t forget, there are still over 400 articles here that you can search and use for your research and learning.

I feel like a miner entering a deep cavern, looking for gold.  I’ll let you know when I find it!

All my love,

Ellen

P.S.  As I wrote this, the Neil Young song, Heart of Gold, came to mind.  As I listened to it, I looked at his chart, which contains a Moon/Pluto opposition and a 13 degree Scorpio Ascendant.  In one of those astrological synchronicities, this very moment I’m writing also contains a Moon/Pluto opposition with a 13 degree Scorpio Ascendant!  This combination speaks about digging down into the deepest emotional depths and finding our true home.  Sounds about right to me.

Mercury in Virgo and We Launch a New Service

Mercury by 17th-century Flemish sculptor Artus Quellinus, identified by his hat, drawstring purse, caduceus, winged sandals, cock (rooster), and goat (Source:Wikipedia)

Hello everyone.

Gotta love that Mercury in Virgo, always thinking about commerce.  Spurred on by practical Mercury, today we launch a new service, the Straight to the Point Response.  Below is the text of the email I sent.  If you’d like to be added to our mailing list, let me know at ellen@astro4business.com.

Dear Friend,

Astro4Business is the premier astrological site combining business expertise and astrological knowledge.  Ellen Longo, CPA, CFP has over thirty years experience in business ownership and executive level leadership and she brings this unique perspective to every astrological consultation.

Many readers of the Astro4Business Intersections blog have requested consultations with Ellen.  We are offering a new service for busy business owners and leaders:  the Straight to the Point Response (SPR for those who like acronyms.)

This is how the SPR works:

  • Email your specific question to ellen@astro4business.com.  I will also need your astrological information if you are a new client.  The charge for each response is $40 and will consist of a two page answer or a recording specifically related to you and your question.
  • I will send a PayPal invoice for you to pay online.
  • Within one week of the date we receive your payment, I will send your Straight to the Point Response.
  • After you have read or listened to your report, you are welcome to send up to three clarifying questions at no additional charge.   (A clarifying question is a question you ask to make sure you’ve understood my response correctly.)

What kinds of questions are common?

Here are some examples of common questions.  Of course, there are as many questions as there are specific situations; this is just to get you started.  And remember, a general question will elicit a general answer; a more specific question will elicit a more specific answer; and the more background you can give me, the more the answer will meet your needs.

  • I am considering taking on a partner or investor.  Is this a good time to make this move?
  • Is this a good time to open a branch office?
  • Everything seems challenging in my business right now.  What’s the best approach?
  • What can I do to make sure my boss notices the work I’m doing?
  • A senior staff member and I keep clashing.  Is there anything I can do to smooth things out?
  • I’m developing short-term career goals.  Any advice, based on my chart?
  • I have to decide between two opportunities.  Which has the most promise?
  • I feel stuck.  Is there something else I should be doing?
  • I’m considering going back to school.  What do you think?
  • My job requires public speaking, which I hate.  Any tips on how to overcome this fear?

I hope you will find this new service a useful source of knowledge and support.

Best always,

Ellen

Random Thoughts – April 1

Hello everyone.

Woman with Stylus and Wax Tablets from Pompeii

Some random thoughts today.

U.S. Tax Day

In the U.S., April 15th is the day income tax returns are due.  This message may be late for many of you but a warning:  this year be extremely conservative and careful with your return.  I wouldn’t venture too far into any grey areas; stick to the white side of the line.  Astrologically I’m saying this because of the tension this year of the Cardinal T-square between Saturn in Libra, Uranus in Aries, and Pluto in Capricorn.

I’ve seen several cases where federal and state governments are aggressively pursuing taxpayers on the most minor issues.  I believe they are trying every way they can to fill their coffers.  Their potential bankruptcy is one of the impacts of Pluto in Capricorn and since that transit is affecting all of us we may be tempted to lighten our own economic turmoil with a little sleight of hand with our tax returns.  Not this year!  Walk the straight and narrow.  This will keep you out of trouble.

Here’s an article on audit red flags, IRS Audit:  How to Avoid One.  If you claim any of these deductions, make sure you’ve documented them completely.  http://moneywatch.bnet.com/saving-money/article/irs-audit-how-to-avoid-one/406206/

Do You Know Your Score?

Since we’ve been examining Uranus lately and will continue to do so, I want to make sure you’ve found your way to Donna Cunningham’s scoring technique.  She assigns point values to various chart factors to see if you are strongly influenced by a planet.

Do you know your score?  Visit  “How Strong is Your Uranus?  Here’s the Score.”  She also has tests for the other outer planets.  If you know which planets are strongest, then we can discuss how to take advantage of your strengths, and what weaknesses to watch for, to bring success to your business.

Let’s experiment!

This month we’re testing an astrological theory.  This theory states that on the day a planet changes signs or changes direction there is often an event in your life that symbolizes the change in energy.  Is this true?  Let’s all conduct the experiment.  These are the dates to watch, with maybe one day before and one day after.  I’ve added a general category of experience but I don’t want to bias your observation.

If you notice something, please share it in the comments.  And null answers are as important as positive ones:  in other words, let us know if nothing happened too.

April 2 – Mercury enters Taurus                                 Communications

April 6 – Pluto turns retrograde                                  Disclosure

April 7 – Saturn retrograde enters Virgo                 Rules, regulations

April 18 – Mercury turns retrograde                         Communications

April 19 – Sun enters Taurus                                     Leadership or vision

April 25 – Venus enters Gemini                                   Relating

This means that today or tomorrow we’re looking for a communications event that signals something new.  Anything yet?

New Blogroll

Have you noticed I develop a blogroll?  Look to the right toward the bottom of the site to see some astrologers and blogs I’ve been following that I really like.

Want to write a blog post?

Next week I’m going to London for three weeks and when I return in May I’m moving across the country (again).  While I’m going to do my best to keep up with my blogging, I’m sure there will be days I’ll miss.  Are you an astrologer who would love to write on a business topic?  Or a business person who would like to share an experience you think would help everyone?  I’d love to feature your work sometime in the next month or two.  Contact me at Ellen@astro4business.com.

Don’t forget. If you have an astrology-related business question (or a business-related astrology question) send it to me at ellen@astro4business.com. I’ll answer it in these posts, anonymously of course, and we can all learn from each other’s experiences. I look forward to it! Have a question now? Email it and let’s get started!
