Astro4Business Weekly Highlights – Busy!

Hello everyone.

This week is very busy, with the Full Moon early in the week and the end of the week packed with aspects between Mercury, Mars, Venus and powerhouse Pluto.  Add to this next Sunday’s sparring between the Sun, newly in Gemini, and Neptune in Pisces and we’ve got a week of healthy challenges with the ability to meet them head-on.

Full Moon

We’ll ramp up to the Full Moon all day on Monday as it reaches culmination early on Tuesday (MDT).  The Full Moon this month is an opposition between the Sun in Taurus and the Moon in Scorpio.  Both Scorpio and Taurus are related to money.  Taurus rules our own finances and Scorpio rules outside resources like lenders, investors, and insurers.   This Full Moon asks you to look at the extent of your reliance on these outside resources and whether they are helping or hindering your own financial stability.  What is the ratio of your debt to your assets?  How is your credit rating?  How much of your monthly budget is spent on interest payments?  If these issues are perfectly in balance, fine.  If they are weighted too strongly in one direction or the other, this Moon will bring awareness and the will to do something about it.

Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Pluto

Let me start by saying that Mercury, Venus, and Mars form an excellent aspect to Pluto this week, one which brings opportunity and an increase in our personal power and influence.  Sometimes people hear Pluto will be active and they immediately think of death, destruction, and upheaval.  Pluto can be these things but also healing, transformation, and rebirth.  Whether the former or the latter, it all works to our advantage this week.

"All for one; one for all." By Maurice Leloir, engraved on wood by Jules Huyot. (Source:Wikipedia)

We spoke last week about Mercury and Venus traveling together in the sky and this week they catch up with Mars – like the three Musketeers, “all for one, one for all.”  In last week’s post I spoke about Mercury and Venus together:

…This is like a device that works well and is beautiful to look at. Or when your best systems manager is also great with people.  When your smartest analyst can create a presentation that really pops or when your marketing director never overpromises because she understands what it takes to deliver.

Add Mars in Taurus to this mix and we get all the above plus the energy to actually take action and implement.  Mars is impatient with plans and concepts, and even uninterested in beauty and form.  Mars wants to take the field and lead people to accomplishment.  This adds a spark to this week that was missing last week, and a much better chance of actually producing something tangible.

These three are working together all week when they run into the vibe of Pluto.  Pluto is a detective, an undercover sleuth and he will lend these talents to Mercury, Venus, and Mars.  This makes for an excellent week to get to the bottom of something and make changes that are overdue.  Are your people in the right positions?  Is production on schedule?  Are your major projects in alignment with your company’s goals?  Does the current economic and political environment support your vision?

This whole configuration is in earth signs:  it’s time to get practical in the physical world.  We’re talking “atoms rather than bits” as Chris Anderson of WIRED Magazine coined the phrase.  Nail by nail, this week is about dismantling something worn out and recycling the parts into something with new promise.

Sun/Neptune

We’ll be grateful for all this solid earth energy this week because with the Sun squaring Neptune next Sunday, anyone in leadership is likely to get more and more spaced out as the week unfolds.  When the Sun intersects Neptune’s vibe, it’s important that we strive for clarity and not believe everything we hear.  We shouldn’t even necessarily trust our own judgment!

However, if we can turn our attention away from the nuts and bolts of running our businesses, creative waves of vision and inspiration will wash over us next weekend.  Try to delegate day-to-day to your best staff and let yourself become inspired by your muse.

Have a great, busy week!

Astro4Business Weekly Highlights – Clarity and Pleasure

Hello everyone.

This week Mercury and Venus meet in the skies on Monday and, hand in hand all week, end the week entering Taurus.  Skipping along merrily and fast, they pass Jupiter mid-week and come within 3 degrees of Mars by the end of the week.  This line-up of planets is a beautiful event in the heavens which you should be able to view before sunrise each morning.

Mercury and Venus are the only planets inside the orbit of the earth.  In astrology they hold special significance as direct lieutenants of the Sun.  Never too distant from the center, they represent two primary tools we use as we negotiate in the world of business.

Mercury signifies our rational thinking processes, our speech and communication facilities.  In business Mercury rules all the memos, meetings, and telecommunications that allow us to carry out the interchange of commerce.

Venus represents our values and how we establish what holds meaning and significance to us.  She understands that no man is an island and that we need others, as well as harmony and beauty, in our interactions.  She is about attraction, cohesion, and metaphor.  In business she rules marketing, PR, and creativity.

Mercury is impersonal and precise; Venus is highly personal and concerned with relationships.  Mercury is about commerce, interchange; Venus is about customers and staff alignment.  Mercury communicates through numbers and facts; Venus communicates through images like “she shoulders a lot of responsibility” or “he has big shoes to fill.”  Venus is superb in advertising; Mercury is brilliant with text.

Often one or the other of these planets is more dominant, but this week they are hand in hand.  This is like a device that works well and is beautiful to look at. Or like when your best systems manager is also great with people.  Like when you can take your finance person with you anywhere because she always looks great and makes a good impression.  When your smartest IT guy understands conceptually what you’re trying to achieve, not just how to put it all together.  When your smartest analyst can create a presentation that really pops or when your marketing director never overpromises because she understands what it takes to deliver.

This is a week of learning, with Mercury and Venus traveling together and also meeting up with Jupiter.  It’s a good time to require both sets of qualities from your staff.  Sometimes people get so boxed into one way of doing things that the other side atrophies a little.  This is a great week to round things out.  For those who tend to be linear and analytical, ask them to present their ideas in images that customers will understand.  For those who tend to be all about relationships, ask them to explain to you the fine points of a product.  Both types can learn from each other or they can each learn from an advisor.  This is a super week to expose your staff to what other people do in the company, to break down divisions between the two types, and to broaden people’s appreciation for others’ talents.

Inadequacies may arise as each type ventures out of their comfort zone.  Mercury and Venus are competing as the morning star this week and you may see competition become a factor with your staff too.  But you could also uncover hidden talents as people get to display another side of their skills.

And of course this applies to those of us who are one-person shops.  Head into the far aside of your comfort zone; experiment with a more dormant facet of your personality.  I guarantee you’ll learn something new that will bring a new dimension to your enterprise.  Mercury and Venus equal clarity and pleasure.  What could be better?

Astro4Business Weekly Highlights – Shhhhh.

Hello, everyone.

Guess what?  This is that rarest of weeks when there are no major aspects between any planets except the conjunction of the Sun and Moon at New Moon on Tuesday.  Nothing else.  Zip.  Nada.

What do we make of this?  A pause, certainly, especially with the quiet of the Taurus New Moon, followed by a slowly ascending energy after Tuesday when we can try and test a new project, product, or idea.  We can quietly gather support through interpersonal communications as the Moon moves into Gemini, and through emotional bonding when it reaches Cancer.

Looking ahead, next week contains a few aspects and three planets changing signs, but even next week holds no major conflicts in the heavens.  Two weeks of peace – sounds good, right?  May it be so in your world and the world as a whole.

Let me know how it goes.

Astro4Business Weekly Highlights – Don’t Rain on My Parade

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Hello everyone.

Can it be the end of April already?  Sure enough we’re in the final week and also the final week of the Moon, winding down and cleaning up in preparation for the next cycle.  Venus takes on Pluto and Saturn this week; she’s ready for a fight and I hope she can hold her own.  Venus in Aries is a warrior, but Pluto and Saturn are no lightweights themselves.  At the end of the week there is a rocket-launching Mars/Jupiter conjunction.  Only two days are highlighted this week but these energies are so powerful the whole week will be affected.  Let’s look at these two days a little further.

Wednesday

Very early Wednesday morning, maybe even Tuesday evening depending on your time zone, Venus in Aries reaches a 90° angle with Pluto in Capricorn.  This angle is known for tension and intractability; two parties are each sure they are exclusively in the right and are willing to go to the mats to prove it.  Venus rules money and Pluto rules the economy as a whole, including banking, debt, and taxes.  It may feel like others want too big a share of your pie and you’re “mad as hell and not going to take it anymore!”  There’s a battle brewing this week and you may as well take a stand and try to protect your assets.

In the evening the Sun in Taurus forms a trine aspect with that same Pluto in Capricorn. This can bring a test of your own personal power and you will probably come out victorious.  You may negotiate a compromise position or recognize you have allies behind the scenes who are ready to come to your aid.  The day will end on a high note, but you may have fought a hard fight.  Time to celebrate your success with a little food, wine, and companionship.

Saturday

On Saturday Venus in Aries opposes Saturn in Libra.  We’re used to thinking of feminine Venus as a mediator and negotiator, but when she’s in Aries, she can put her dukes up with the best of them.  Saturn counsels restraint and caution but Venus is ready to act.

This aspect can bring an opportunity your way but with Saturn strong in Libra you may feel too cautious or restrained to actually take it.  You may feel that you can’t afford it or you don’t have the support you need to succeed and that may be true.  Venus opposing Saturn can feel really frustrating as feisty Venus wants new experiences but conservative Saturn wants to continue with the tried and true.  See the short video from the film Funny Girl below for a great example of Venus in Aries sloughing off her cautious Saturnian advisors, “Don’t Rain on My Parade.” This is the spirit of this aspect but don’t forget how the story ends.  Take the voices of experience seriously while you can today because….

…a few hours later Mars meets Jupiter in Aries, which sparks an ignition.  The Aries energy won’t be held back any longer.  You’re up for a challenge as Jupiter in Aries thinks big and Mars in Aries wants to take action with passion.  Growth, expansion, competition:  all these catch fire with this transit.  This aspect is fortunate in that Mars gives you the expertise right down on the field of action and Jupiter gives you the view from the hilltop.  You can see the patterns below and instantly respond, knowing when to advance and when to retreat.  This environment propels you to take the big risk, except that the New Moon is less than three days away.  So make your plans now, buy your supplies, get people on board, make sure all your tools are in working order, and then launch after May 3.

Have a wonderful week and as always, let me know how it all pans out.  Your comments expand our understanding of the impact of astrology on our businesses.

Astro4Business Weekly Highlights – Topsy Turvy

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Hello everyone.

This week begins with a stand-off and then stumbles and tumbles with one change after another.  As we leave the Full Moon behind we’ll wrap up our current projects and definitely end the week in a difference place than we started.

Monday

On Monday there is a stand-off between Mars in Aries and Saturn in Libra.  These are opposing energies to the max and with the aspect between them an “opposition,” I’m afraid that will be the keyword for the day.  Someone wants to act, someone wants restraint.  Someone takes a seemingly childish stand, the other is sober to a fault.  Someone wants to be off on their own making things happen, someone else wants the team to take up the project.  Someone wants to initiate something new, the other wants the tried and true.  Both are up for a fight.

Nothing subtle or hidden here, this will rise to a head and will have to be dealt with.  Put your leadership hat on and find the fine point of compromise.  This aspect is full of energy which can move your business forward if you take a strong hand and guide it.

Tuesday

Again today your staff is up for a challenge with a Mercury/Mars conjunction, except today it’s in the realm of ideas.  Everyone will be talking at once, trying to win others over to their point of view.  The challenge of the day is to remember that Mercury is still retrograde, so what people think they hear may not be exactly what was proposed.  Especially as your staff interacts with customers, make sure they know exactly how much to offer and how to put practical parameters around their presentations.

Wednesday

Wednesday is a day of adjustment and change with the Sun and Venus changing signs.  The Sun moves into Taurus which should lend more stability and reliability to the atmosphere and yet Venus enters Aries where she is hot and fiery and less diplomatic than in any other sign.  Venus in Aries ignites your PR and marketing efforts, beginning an excellent period to establish new relationships and bold propositions.  Be careful not to over-promise; you may under-deliver.  This flame can burn out quickly and move on to the next thing before the last is accomplished.

Also today the Sun receives input from Neptune.  This puts you “in tune” and leads to new connections from new sources, ones you may have missed along the way.  The Sun in practical Taurus may not welcome this “airy-fairy” Neptune energy but if you resist it your energy may flag. Spend a few hours looking at the latest tools and technology for your business. Explore to your heart’s delight, but no purchasing please.  Wait until Mercury is direct next week to decide which new toys you really need.

Friday

Venus in Aries meets Uranus in the same sign which brings creative breakthroughs and interactions charged with electricity.  Expect the unexpected where finances are concerned.  Financial astrologers are forecasting sharp price swings and you may experience this volatility in your own purse, up or down, or up then down, or…well, you get the picture.  Poise yourself to take advantage of a sudden opportunity but don’t let your cash burn a hole in your pocket, because today, it will!

Saturday

Mercury regains direct motion on Saturday, time to resume plans, negotiations, and contracts.  However, give it a few days before you expect yourself and your colleagues to be fully back into the rational, linear, commercial mode.

Sunday

Sunday is an experimental day for this Astro4Business site.  We are just starting to incorporate Chiron into our forecasting and testing its activities in business.  On Sunday the Sun in Taurus forms a supportive aspect with Chiron in Pisces.  Let’s see what it brings.  My astrology program says this aspect brings us in contact with people who can teach us new skills, wise teachers who can spark a whole new field of learning for us.  Let’s all tune in and see.  Please share in the comments if you experience this energy on Sunday, give or take a couple of days.

Have a wonderful week!

Astro4Business Weekly Highlights – Impact

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Hello, everyone.

This week opens with a bang on Monday and that impact is carried all the way into the week until the Full Moon next Sunday.

Monday

Monday opens with the 1st quarter Moon which always brings a decision point.  What has been in motion in the past will continue in the same direction unless you step into the driver’s seat.  This point in the lunar cycle has been described as a car going around a curve:  you either take the wheel and negotiate the curve or natural forces will continue their pre-ordained path and you’ll run right off the road.  Usually a choice has to be made, gaining something and leaving something behind.  But the key is to act with courage and with the Moon in Cancer, with the emotional support of those closest to you.

A few hours later Mars challenges Pluto.  In other words, fiery aggressive energy challenges the powers that be in government, society, and the economy.  You may feel ready to take on the world in order to move your business forward.  Alternately, one of your staff leaders may feel you are the inflexible authority who must be challenged.

These energies need a strong hand.  Truly there is the potential to break new ground and to finally overcome what has seemed so intractable.  But there is nothing kind or pussy-footed about this aspect.  Ray Merriman of the excellent Merriman Market Analyst warns, “[This] can be a confrontational dynamic where each side refuses to bend to the point of a functional compromise. One side will have to break, for hard aspects between Mars and Pluto almost never conclude in a win-win result.”

And then later in the day Mercury and Jupiter meet in Aries.  Mercury represents the intellect and Jupiter usually represents wisdom.  But with both of these planets in impulsive, idealistic Aries your intellect may be overcome with grand ideas and following on the heels of the Mars/Pluto influence above, you may become convinced that a big aggressive move is the only true solution.  Whoa there, partner!  Remember that when Mercury is retrograde all is not as it seems.  Take that big idea and file it for the time being.  It will gain a lot more traction if you wait a couple of weeks before you put it in motion.  Over-confidence, idealistic conviction, and impatience will signal an idea whose time has not come.

And the rest of the week

The rest of the week carries Monday’s themes forward with the growing energy between the Sun and Moon, culminating in the Full Moon on Sunday.  There’s dramatic flair midweek and an emphasis on creativity.  Some of your staff will be on mental holiday with Mercury retrograde so you’ll have to take the lead.  Provide yourself with artistic outlets and move through the week with a sense of wonder and play.  This will bring everything to completion right on time.

Have a great week and please share in the comments how you experienced these energies.  I’m really interested in how that Mars/Pluto square impacted your business life this week.

Astro4Business Weekly Highlights – A New Start

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Hello, everyone.

There’s a lot going on this week, some of it fairly dramatic and some of it quite subtle.  Neptune dips its toes into its home base, Pisces; the Sun and Jupiter meet in the skies; Pluto assumes retrograde motion; and the Sun and Mercury form their mid-retrograde conjunction.  In this week just after the New Moon we can catch glimmers of our next project and how to set it in motion.

Neptune enters Pisces

On Monday Neptune enters the sign Pisces, a sign so attuned to the energy of Neptune that we could say we’ll experience Neptune to the second or third degree.  At the beginning of this transition we may notice a shift from the mental realm of social networking to experiences based more on shared feelings like musical events or religious gatherings.  Over time I think we may come out of our separate spheres, connected to each other through the internet, to more interactions we share in physical space.  Neptune represents the part of us that wants to connect and dissolve barriers and in Pisces we will yearn for an emotional and mystical connection, rather than a purely mental one.

How can you incorporate this into your business?  It’s really too soon to tell, but look for tools and technology based on media that provides a more sensual, overall experience and for breakthroughs in fields ruled by Neptune such as oil, pharmaceuticals, health, marine biology, film, and space. Unified field theory? You bet. Theory of everything? Probably so.

Sun conjunct Jupiter

Wednesday is the annual meeting between the Sun, representing you in your leadership position in your business, and Jupiter, representing new opportunities, new growth, expansion into new fields or territories, and general optimism.  In Aries it could even spell exuberance and extravagance.  This is a wonderful week for larger-than-life ideas and the willingness to speculate based on an accurate assessment of the future.

The only caution is to remember that Mercury is still retrograde, so the information you receive may be twisted in some way or only partially true.  Check everything twice but don’t hold back.  This is an excellent time to begin a whole new endeavor.

Pluto Retrograde

On Saturday, Pluto enters into retrograde motion.  Pluto is in retrograde motion for five months every year, backtracking over the same few degrees of arc it just traversed.   Look for a post later in the week that discusses this important planet and its retrograde motion.  In a nutshell, Pluto in Capricorn represents the global movement to destroy and then rebuild the massive structures of our lives:  business structures, political structures, economic structures, transportation structures, military structures.  You probably recognized, just at the end of last year, an area in your business life that needs a similar revamping and hopefully you have been undertaking (there’s a nice Pluto word!) this work since then.

The annual period of retrograde motion allows us a second chance to look at the same issues again.  During the next five months your awareness of your role in the challenges your business faces will go much deeper, subtle aspects will come to light, and we will all become more and more conscious of the part our own attitudes play in keeping worn-out and decaying structures in place.

If you experience a setback this week, especially one connected to the structures mentioned above, take it as a signal that you have some excavation work to do, either inside your own psyche or in your business.

Sun Conjunct Retrograde Mercury

Also on Saturday, the Sun meets with Mercury in retrograde motion.  This is a critical date in the whole cycle of Mercury retrograde.  This is the best day for a formal meeting with your staff, anyone involved in collecting or disseminating information in your organization.  Your people have something to share with you today although they may need to express it in alternative ways to the usual emails, texts, or power point presentations.  Look for synchronicities and connections that aren’t apparent on the surface.  A glimpse of the future is promised today if you can put yourself in a listening frame of mind.

Have a great week and let me know how this powerful time goes.

Astro4Business Weekly Highlights – Aries Hot!

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Hello, everyone.

Are you feeling the heat?  Don’t worry, by the end of the week you will be.  This week is all Aries, all the time.  If you’re an adventurous spirit, you’re gonna love it.  If not, you may want to run for cover.

Let me list it out for you:

Monday Sun in Aries squaring Pluto in Capricorn; Jupiter in Aries opposing Saturn in Libra

Wednesday Mercury in Aries making its station and turning retrograde

Friday Mars entering Aries, becoming very powerful in the sign it rules

Sunday New Moon in Aries; Mars conjuncting Uranus in Aries; Sun in Aries opposing Saturn in Libra

That’s a lot of warrior energy!  And I’d say it might be frustrated warrior energy with the Moon losing energy all week preparing for the New Moon on Sunday and Mercury turning retrograde mid-week.  Both of these indicate an inward-turning, quieting tide, just the opposite of rash, impulsive, put-your-foot-down-and-stomp-around Aries energy.

And that’s just your local environment.  On the wider societal and global stage this week we have that square from Pluto in Capricorn, oppositions from Saturn in Libra, and Uranus joining the fray.  We can call it destruction (Pluto), limitation (Saturn), and revolution (Uranus) at every intersection this week.

The most challenging aspects are the square from Pluto in Capricorn on Monday and the conjunction of Mars with Uranus next Sunday.  I’m not too worried about the oppositions from Saturn in Libra.  Saturn is exalted in Libra and will bring a dose of diplomacy, collaboration, and respect – a needed antidote to the self-referential and fiery Aries energy.

Sun square Pluto

We know the Sun in Aries brings an active, dynamic, aggressive energy to those in leadership.  We are apt to act first and ask questions later.  This is extremely valuable when we have to begin a new endeavor or push projects forward that are lagging or stalled.

But as we take hasty action this week we run smack into Pluto in Capricorn.  Pluto in Capricorn is a change agent, toppling over time the institutions in our lives that have gotten oppressive and tradition-bound.  Upheaval is a keyword for the process, but the attitudes which created these forms in the first place take many, many years to destroy.  No quick fixes here, which is all the Sun in Aries is interested in.  The Sun in Aries is not a long-haul energy; it wants to take action and be quickly rewarded.

As you implement your plans this week you could run into one hurdle after another, seemingly intransigent obstacles that you are probably sick and tired of dealing with.  The energy will ease up after the beginning of the week, but only after you’ve adjusted your expectations about what you can reasonably accomplish.  No side-stepping this week.

This square requires us to actively confront and resolve our problems.  Take definite acts of self-assertion but recognize that there is clean-up work to be done, and there’s no one else to do it but you.  As the leader, direct your attention to burning away anything malicious, destructive, disloyal, or decaying that comes to light.  It’s not the first time you’ve had to do this and it won’t be the last.  But it’s the work to do this week.

Mars conjunct Uranus

Helmeted young warrior, so-called Ares. Roman copy from a Greek original—this is a plaster replica, the original is now stored in the Museum of the Villa. Canope at the Villa Adriana in Tivoli.

With Mars entering Aries on Friday and approaching its conjunction with Uranus on Sunday, you may spend the entire week dealing with one conflict after another.  Mars in Aries incites a competitive fierceness which is great if you can wield it and hard to bear if it’s used against you.  You’ve got to stay on the offense this week as others vie for position and take advantage of any ambivalence.  Even within your staff, your operations and production people may be feisty and geared up, fomenting a full-blown revolution by the end of the week if you’re not careful.  It will take an absolute here and now presence from you, dealing swiftly with each matter as it arises, and there could be many.

You may be called upon to defend others in a righteous cause and if so, you could be surprised at your level of courage and determination.  Or you may finally feel you’ve had enough of excuses for mediocrity, in yourself or others.  You will have the insight to break through entrenched boundaries with this aspect, but you may end up in a place you could not have predicted.

One strong caution for the week is to keep up or even ramp up your exercise regimen.  This Mars/Uranus energy is very physical and stressful; it needs a positive outlet.  But be careful.  Push your limits but don’t exceed them, as this erratic, unpredictable energy can lead to accidents if you take it too far.

Mercury Retrograde

On Wednesday Mercury, the planet that rules all of the communications and information it takes to keep a business running, turns retrograde.  Mercury is retrograde for 18 days three times a year.  From our geocentric point of view, Mercury has gotten way out in front of the Sun, as far ahead as it can go.  Now it begins to regress, apparently moving backwards through the zodiac until it meets the Sun and then falls even farther behind it.  In 18 days Mercury will resume direct motion and begin to catch up with the Sun again.

The Sun represents you, the leader, and Mercury represents all of the tools and people you use to gather the information you need, including assistants, PR people, research teams, accountants, and IT.  These people have pulled ahead of you, so to speak, treading ground you have yet to explore.  You may feel that your company has gotten ahead of itself, or you’ve been too distracted by new information to manage the projects currently on your plate.  Mercury retrograde is the time to pull everyone back, to review what they have been doing, and to plan how to incorporate all the new information.  This also begins a period to evaluate your team’s efforts and be sure everyone is working toward the goals you have established.

New Moon in Aries

Usually I advise people to rest during the couple days before and after the New Moon.  It’s generally a time of inactivity, a seeding time for the new endeavor which will reveal itself just after the New Moon.  But this month, I don’t think we’ll have the luxury.  With all of this Aries activity, and the Sun and Moon in Aries at the New Moon on Sunday, I just don’t think we’ll be able to relax.  We’ll “want to be starting somethin’” in the words of Michael Jackson.  So go for it!  It may be a flash in the pan but if you try to resist the pro-activity of Aries, you risk burning out your circuits.  Aries needs to ACT, so if you feel the urge, indulge it with passion!  That will please Mars, the fiery ruler of this sign.

So that’s the week, a hotbed of powerful push-pull energies.  Don’t forget to sense the childlike quality of the Aries energy and have some fun.

Astro4Business Weekly Highlights – Lightning followed by soft rain

Hello everyone.

This week features the waning Moon, a Sun/Uranus conjunction, and a visit from Venus, which is always a good thing.

The Waning Moon

The two weeks following the Full Moon is the time to round the bend and start heading toward the next new beginning.  In order to be fully open and prepared for whatever is next, we need to bring our current projects to completion, hand them in or hand them off, and then document, archive and clear our workspaces.  This first week after the Full Moon brings energy to adjust your project based on input from others and to finalize your work.  Even if you didn’t get everything done that you wanted to, time will move us on.  So find a good stopping point and begin your cleaning up and clearing away.

Sun/Uranus Together Again

On Monday we have our annual Sun/Uranus conjunction.  Conjunctions are when two planets (in astrology we often refer to the Sun and Moon as planets, just for the sake of consistent language) come together at the exact same degree in the arc of the sky.  Since the Sun travels through the entire zodiac in one year, every year it conjuncts each of the other planets.

Conjunctions are times of new beginnings, new input, new perspectives, and new possibilities.  Uranus has moved into Aries recently so this is the first time the Sun has met Uranus in Aries in 84 years.

The Sun is the most conscious part of ourselves.  It represents our identity, our essential nature, and our role as leaders in our businesses.  Uranus embodies the principle of change, especially the kinds of transitions that occur because of sudden breakthroughs and technological innovations.  Uranus bursts through barriers like lightning and ushers in the new.

With the Sun hand in hand with Uranus this week we are likely to experience a heightened sense of possibility along with a desire to break our business out of its mold.  Depending on your nature, you may feel an excess of nervous, intellectual energy or you may feel annoyed with things moving too fast, too soon.  Either way it’s important to stay open for new insight this week.  You could get a message straight from the future that can guide you for the next year.  You wouldn’t want to miss that, right?

Venus joins Neptune

At the end of the week Venus is in conjunction with Neptune, also an annual event.  We haven’t heard much from Venus lately; she’s been overwhelmed by the machinations of the outer planets.  But this is her week to shine.

Venus and Neptune have a lot in common.  They are both concerned with values, assets, fashion, trends, creativity and public relations.  The difference is that Venus operates in our local environment and Neptune operates in distant time and space.  But these two together can form a bridge that brings the whole world right to your business doorstep.

Venus with Neptune is an excellent time to cast your net far and wide.  I once took a Performance Communication training with the excellent Isabel Anderson.  One of the exercises we did was to envision ourselves picking up a huge fishing net and flinging it as far as we could toward the distant horizon.  We actually went through the motions of picking up the heavy net, throwing it with all our might, and then waiting and imagining it unfurling further and further into the distance.  The point was to cast our intention over everything, to envelope everything, to connect with others further and further afield.

This is a good image for this week as we approach the Venus/Neptune conjunction.    We can understand this week how much our success is connected to the success of all people; we can develop relationships with colleagues in far distant realms; we can interact around the world, as far as our imaginations can capture.

Venus and the Sea

Then on Sunday Venus enters the sign Pisces where she’ll be travelling until April 20.  Venus is exalted in the sign of the sea which means she brings her best when she’s passing through this sign.  Pisces lends Venus compassion, alignment, and a spirit of service to others.  In business, you’ll find yourself more in tune with your customers and employees; it will be easy to anticipate other people’s needs.  I have high hopes that Venus in Pisces will sprinkle a soft drizzle over the fire of so many planets in Aries.    In your business and in the world, look for conflict to simmer down and creativity and diplomacy to soar.

Have a wonderful week!

Astro4Business Weekly Highlights – Fleet-footed Mercury

Today is the anniversary of the day German-born British astronomer and composer William Herschel discovered the planet Uranus (pictured) in 1781 while in the garden of his house in Bath, Somerset, England, thinking it was a comet.(Source:Wikipedia)

Hello everyone.

Mercury continues to be bright and active this week.  After last week’s conjunction to Uranus and square to Pluto, this week the messenger of the gods joins Jupiter in Aries on Tuesday and then opposes Saturn in Libra on Friday.  This sets up a powerful Full Moon on Saturday in Mercury’s sign, Virgo, and then the Equinox, Vernal or Autumnal, on Sunday.

Mercury joins Jupiter in Aries – Excitement!

Mercury represents our intellectual faculties and rules all kinds of meetings, communications, written and verbal interactions, negotiations, and transportation.  As the conscious part of our mind, he travels in two directions:  into our subconscious, gathering subtle impressions to bring to our awareness, and into the world around us, bringing external information to consciousness, too.

Mercury with Jupiter in Aries is immensely creative.  New ideas sprout with fervor, an abundance of inspiration taking us into new territory and beyond.  This does not mean every idea is a good one; this energy is big on enthusiasm and short on practicality.

Big plans under this aspect carry big risks too, and new projects can ignite suddenly and then die away after the initial enthusiasm.  This is not to say that there is nothing worthwhile in all this excitement.  The bridge that Mercury forms to Jupiter can alert us to opportunities and our intuition will be in high gear.  We just need to know that some of our ideas may be flashes in the pan.  Enjoy the energy, but don’t invest in it yet.

Mercury opposes Saturn in Libra – Circumspection

Toward the end of the week a healthy dose of Saturnian energy will bring matters down to earth.  The Mercury/Jupiter energy will have us running in different directions, bearing our own flag; the Mercury/Saturn energy will remind us of the requirement to work with others and to put practical plans in place if we really want to accomplish something.  Mercury/Saturn will alert us that agreements should be in writing, and that contracts should be signed, sealed, and delivered, not just sitting on someone’s desk somewhere.  Saturn helps us with the practicalities that give our ideas legs and protects us from going too far, too fast.

The Saturn energy may seem to come from outside authorities, the boss, or the investors, your accountant, someone demanding you to slow down and pay attention.  Or you may have to be the one to put the brakes on your team’s imagination.

Don’t be surprised if the optimism of the early part of the week turns into discouragement by the end.  Actually, balance is needed between the two.  So I’d say take the week as it comes.  Be excited by new information in the early part of the week, and then focus on plans for implementation in the latter part.

Full Moon in Virgo – Presentation

The waxing energy of the Moon all week will contribute to accomplishment and when it is Full on Saturday it’s time to display our latest project.  This is presentation time; you’ve taken your latest effort as far as it will go and it’s time to let it stand on its own.  With the Full Moon in Virgo, a technical, detailed presentation will capture everyone’s attention.

Equinox – Celebration

Sunday is the Equinox, the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere and autumn in the Southern.  Half way between the longest and the shortest day of the year, this is a turning point in the annual cycle of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun.  It’s time to take stock:  how far have you come since the December Solstice?  Are you on track with your goals for the year?  Is there a course correction you need to make?

I think a celebration is in order for Sunday.  This year may have been difficult so far but the Equinox brings a shift and the first day of Aries can make everything fresh and new.  Let’s welcome the new energy with space for a new perspective!

Have a wonderful week and let me know how it all pans out.

This Just In

As I was finishing this post I heard from a client.  She was checking in about last week’s ingress of Uranus into Aries and linking this to the earthquake and nuclear reactor explosion in Japan.  These events could have a direct impact on her business as one of her biggest clients is connected to the nuclear industry.

How about you?  Did you experience any fallout in your business from last week’s events?  Tell us about it as we all tiptoe into Uranus in Aries with anticipation and some trepidation, knowing that sudden and unexpected events (Uranus) can bring a whole new cycle of innovation (Aries).
