A4B Today – November 9 Preparing for Pluto

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

Today the waxing Moon enters Capricorn, bringing a focus on systems and business proficiency.  Anything you can do over the next couple of days to bring your latest inspiration down to earth will pay dividends in the future.

Capricorn loves planning.  Capricorns know that all the knowledge and inspiration in the world is useless unless it is translated into deeds.  But before springing into action we need to plan our course.  There are any number of good business plan templates on the internet; it’s a great idea to download one of them and fill in the blanks.  Here’s the link to the SBA’s Small Business Planner.  Writing a plan does not have to be hard and it provides the first gate  to be sure your idea has wings.

Pluto visit

The Capricorn Moon joins Pluto in Capricorn today, an event which repeats itself each month.  These days are our opportunity to understand at a deeper and deeper level how Pluto in Capricorn is playing out in our personal and business lives.  The more we come to understand the presence of Pluto energy, the better we can prepare ourselves for its inevitable visit.  Everyone with planets in the early degrees of Capricorn has firsthand experience with Pluto and there seems to be an interesting pattern emerging.

After hearing from several clients it looks like Pluto has a penchant for putting someone on an unexpected pedestal and then bringing about a dramatic fall.  I’ve seen this so many times now I can’t ignore it.  First comes the surprise promotion, the fantastic new client, the coveted award; then the firing, the client desertion, and the humiliation.  And now that Pluto is in Capricorn, this seems to be playing out most often in business and careers.

Time after time, people don’t see it coming and don’t have a clue as to why it’s happening and what it means.  Since Pluto moves so slowly across the heavens, it can take many months or even a couple of years before the impact passes.  It becomes a test of endurance and equanimity, which are often in short supply.

Should you despair if you see a Pluto transit coming your way?  Not at all.  It is ultimately extremely rewarding and the more time passes, the more you will recognize the permanent gifts you received during the transit.  These gifts are usually along the lines of being freed from work environments or careers that were dead-end and making you miserable.

Do Pluto transits have to be hard?  Only if you still have an ego.  Most of us are quite sure we know what’s best for us and we fight and suffer as a result.  If you can resist the temptation to struggle against Pluto’s action, whether that’s losing a job, having to relocate, or needing to start completely over in your business, then you’ll be fine.  But that’s not easy.  We’re often unaware of what is making us unhappy.  Like Steve Martin says in the movie LA Story, “I was deeply unhappy but I didn’t know it because I was so happy all of the time.”

So be sure to pay attention on a day like today.  Every month the Moon and Pluto bring us a glimpse of what is outworn and in need of purging.  So go ahead and take some concrete steps to clear out the old and make room for the new.  That’s aligning with Pluto rather than being victimized by its energy.  The old skin has to go if we’re going to become renewed.

Good Day!

As I mentioned in this week’s forecast, Scorpio is a prevalent energy this week and today is no exception.  The Sun in Scorpio forms a harmonious aspect to Pluto in Capricorn.  The Sun represents the most outer and controllable part of ourselves, our ego and our ability as leaders.  Pluto, the planet most closely aligned to the sign Scorpio, represents the most unconscious and uncontrollable part of our lives.  The most apparent outer part meets with the most hidden inner part:  what will be the result?

Pluto in Capricorn represents the upheaval and transformation we are seeing in the massive structures in our world:  government, religion, the economy, industry, and the military, to name a few.   In a most interesting part of astrological philosophy, these most outer and distant edifices in our lives are seen as a projection of our most unconscious inner lives.  Under this philosophy we can never blame our difficulties or reversals of fortune on the wide world out there because any conflicts there are reflections of conflicts inside of us.  If we are having trouble with our board of directors or the IRS or changes in our industry, this is actually the result of deep and transforming adjustments going on within ourselves.

The opportunity of a day like today (and really this is strong enough to influence the whole week) is that this aspect can bring to our conscious minds a recognition of the part we are playing in our own troubles, and the determination to change ourselves and thereby change our fortunes.  And if you’ve reached this point of recognition it’s probably not the first time this year you’ve seen it.  You may have seen a similar pattern which keeps emerging time after time – today is the day you can resolve it.

And here’s a hint for where to look:  conflict.  Many of us subscribe to conflict avoidance – it is one of the most common characteristics of business culture.  Most people want to be liked and don’t want to create tension with people they interact with day after day.  In comes the blessing of Scorpio.  I’ve never known a person strongly influenced by Scorpio who was afraid of conflict.  It’s like the Scorpio energy has a penchant for digging up whatever is uncomfortable, secret, or dysfunctional and laying it bare for all to see.  And this is exactly what is needed and what is offered under today’s aspect.

So how do you keep it friendly and productive?  I’d love to hear your suggestions but I offer the following:

  • Get rid of blame.  When a company culture supports feedback without blame, fewer conflicts are shoved under the carpet, to collect there and erupt later.
  • Be honest with your employees and associates.  Your honesty will elicit others to be frank and above-board, warding off nasty surprises.
  • Be aware that the energy of conflict can evoke radically different solutions than may otherwise have been recognized.
  • As the leader, it’s your job to force disputes to the surface because of the valuable insights which can be gained.  One study found that “conflicts over seemingly technical issues such as procedures, schedules, and lines of authority were in fact proxies for underlying conflicts about values and norms.”  (Ronald Heifetz & Laurie Donald, Harvard Business Review)

So let’s celebrate this week’s Scorpionic environment by taking advantage of its revealing and purifying side.  There’s a lot to be gained and this honesty can lead to another area ruled by Scorpio:  profits!

A4B Today – September 21, A Glimpse of the Future

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

Two days before the Full Moon, today is a day to let the currents pull you and your team toward the culmination stage in your current project.  You don’t have to do anything but avoid resistance:  the energy just before the Full Moon is a building force and all you have to do is go with it.

The Moon is Pisces brings ultra-sensitivity and a willingness to allow a whole vision to emerge.  Disparate viewpoints merge into coherence, making today ideal to put the finishing touches on a task or project you’ve been overseeing.

The Moon is also in harmony with Venus in Scorpio today which should take the edge off of any competition or subtle undermining that’s been going on.  The best of Venus comes out today, which means creativity and feelings of camaraderie.  Even your relationships with normal antagonists could flow into a working partnership today.

Today is also a day to keep your senses tuned to the next big thing, as the Sun in Virgo opposes the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Pisces.  This conjunction receives the full light of the Sun today.  Something transformative is being conceived both societally and personally; the conjunction is the very beginning of a new cycle between Jupiter and Uranus and only comes around every fourteen years.  There will be three exact contacts of the conjunction at the beginning of this new cycle.  One occurred on June 8, the second is today, and the third is in early January.  This whole period from June to January is seeding the growth and innovation which will carry our businesses for the next decade and a half.

We have a good chance to get a glimpse of our next breakthrough today but we have to be aware of where to look for clues.  The news is a good place to start.  As you listen to or read the news today try to get the sense of where society is going from here.  Since the conjunction is in Pisces, be sure to especially tune in to the kinds of fields Pisces rules:  fashion, healthcare, the arts, the seas, liquids, physics and mathematics, spirituality, planetary awareness, and caring connection across unrelated groups.

Jupiter and Uranus both function on the level of intuition, so as you take in the day just let the information flow in.  Don’t try to categorize it or analyze it.  Just absorb it.  It will kick off processes in your mind that will rise to the level of awareness on their own with today’s solar opposition.

Today is a day to read the clues and get a sense of the future.  If you spot anything, share it with all of us in the comments.  You never know who will provide the spark for someone else’s breakthrough. Guesses are also fine under this influence; see what you can imagine!

A4B Today – September 17, One-Two Punch

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

Today is relatively quiet but Saturday is gangbusters, and these planetary events are so powerful there’s no reason you wouldn’t be feeling them already.  Indeed they’ve been coloring the entire week.

Mars & Pluto

Mars in Scorpio forms an easeful aspect with Pluto in Capricorn on Saturday, which carries forward the tenor we’ve seen all week.  Pluto turned direct on Monday and Mars entered Pluto’s sign, Scorpio, on Tuesday.  We’ve cited examples of this combination all week so if you missed them be sure to check the prior posts.  And don’t miss the comments as readers shared their own stories.

With the harmonious aspect, there’s an open door for more revelations of hidden matters, whether these have been concealed from you by others or you’ve been concealing them from yourself.  There’s a great deal of power released when the truth bubbles to the surface so you may feel these new disclosures instigate a whole new purpose within you.

You may be taken aback and need to seclude yourself to adjust to the reality you glimpse over the next couple of days.  As much as we’d like to think we favor honest revelations, sometimes they require us to modify our own behavior.  Mars in Scorpio demands that we drop our own desires in favor of working in concert with others and for some of us, that’s hard!  And Pluto in Capricorn reveals the stark reality of our business and economic situations.  So it’s no picnic.

Jupiter & Uranus

The other major aspect is so different that I’m eager to see how they both play out together.  While Mars in Scorpio with Pluto is everything secretive, instinctual, defensive, and self-protective, there is also a Jupiter/Uranus conjunction exact on Saturday.  Jupiter and Uranus are bright, rational, clear, and future focused.  The two separate aspects are within two hours of each other Saturday evening (MDT), a one-two punch.

Jupiter and Uranus meet in their travels around the zodiac about every fourteen years.  Due to retrograde motion they may contact each other three times within a few months and then move apart again.  The current cycle began with their first contact on June 8 with both planets in the sign Aries.  Now both in retrograde motion, they meet in Pisces and will turn around to meet again in direct motion in Pisces in January.

I’m fascinated by the planets’ foray into Aries and then backing up into Pisces.  Aries is considered the first sign of the zodiac, the sign associated in the northern hemisphere with Spring.  When they met in June both planets were within the first degree of Aries.  Aries is the spark of individuality, the single organism separating from the collective and standing on its own.  But now they both moved back into Pisces!  It’s like that first fish that sprouted lungs, scratched onto the shore, takes one breath, and runs back into the sea!

To bring this into business terms, we were likely to really feel inspired in June under the first Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Aries:  a new business, a new venture beckoned us; a break from the past seemed a reality.  And then both planets turned retrograde.  All of a sudden there were holes in our plan; the energy fell out; our enthusiasm waned.  As Jupiter and Uranus inched back into Pisces, our spark of Aries independence waned.  We fell back into a pattern from the past, one much less entrepreneurial and individualistic.  If you were experimenting with new business forms, you probably reverted.  If a new product idea seemed feasible, you probably had to let it go.  If you engaged new clients, the relationship may have stalled.

On Saturday Jupiter and Uranus meet again in retrograde motion.  Deep in the recesses of your mind, there is a new idea being born.  Yes, it may bear a resemblance to something you thought was left behind for good.  And while both planets are in retrograde motion, it may be hard to clearly distinguish the next step for your business innovation and that’s OK – it’s not time for a fully baked idea yet.  But if you listen carefully, you may hear the stirrings of your next big move, even if it sounds familiar.

One or Both?

So which will you experience, the subterfuge and power issues of Mars, Pluto, and Scorpio or the creative business idea of Jupiter and Uranus?  Let’s keep our senses peeled and continue to share in the comments what the next two days bring.

Have a revealing weekend!

Astro4Business Weekly Forecast – September 13

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Good day, and welcome to a really interesting week.  In this post I’ll give you an overview of the week as a whole, and then in the daily blog we’ll go into each of these topics more thoroughly.  There’s not a lot going on but what is going on is a lot!

Overall, we’ve got the waxing Moon and the general energy of growth and reaching for the potential we recognized at the New Moon last Wednesday.  We also begin the week with Mercury standing still (at least it looks that way to us) and then resuming direct motion.  Both of these indicate that “the time to hesitate is through.”

Mars/Pluto/Scorpio

Then we’ve got a whole lot of Pluto/Scorpio energy in the mix this week.  This new emotional tenor began last week when Venus entered Scorpio and we can see a perfect example of this influence in the big blow-up between HP and Oracle.  In case you missed it, in brief it is a story of two long-time collaborators and competitors in conflict over confidential trade secrets.  It includes a spicy understory with a sexual harassment suit, intertwined technologies, a highly public firing, a shareholder suit, and an inappropriate personal relationship between a Wall Street darling company president and a former actress.  Is that enough Scorpio for you?  If there is time, I’ll unpack this story for you in astrological terms over the next couple of weeks.  It’s a great case study of the impact of Scorpio in business.

This week there is likely to be more of the same, both in the public sphere and within our own businesses, with the planet Pluto resuming direct motion.  Pluto has been in retrograde motion since April 6 and resumes direct motion on Monday.  When a planet becomes still in the sky just before changing directions, its power is said to be increased.  Since Pluto represents the collective survival instinct and the willingness to annihilate anything that threatens that survival, we can expect some very intense illustrations of this energy this week.

And to throw fuel on the fire, Mars, which represents our personal instinct for survival and conquest also enters the sign Scorpio this week.  Mars is the ancient ruler of Scorpio and is very strong and comfortable in that sign, so one more dose of Scorpio energy!

Jupiter/Uranus

Toward the end of the week we encounter the second of a series of three Jupiter/Uranus conjunctions, which is an equally powerful though not so confrontive configuration.  Jupiter represents expansion and Uranus represents innovation, but they are both in retrograde motion and have moved back into the prior sign of Pisces.  This could be an extremely creative time of seeding the next breakthrough in your business and we’ll certainly speak more about this later in the week.

More Mars/Pluto/Scorpio

There’s no respite over next weekend either.  On Saturday, Mars and Pluto are in harmonious aspect, and with these two in harmony, the rest of us had better run!  It reminds me of the bully and his sidekick in The Christmas Story, a movie I love and watch at least once each year at the holidays.  We may feel like a helpless child when up against these two as allies, and again we’ll unpack this more during the week.

And then on Sunday, the Sun and Neptune reach a turning point in Neptune’s retrograde cycle.  This point indicates a need to adjust to unseen powers or the sacrifice of a cherished goal.

So, that’s enough, right?  A lot of this will be acted out on the bigger stage but some of it will no doubt intersect with our own lives.  Try to be an observer of the energies.  I have a feeling we will all learn something important as this story unfolds.

Be sure to check back in each day as we investigate this interesting time.

Mercury Retrograde – 10 Ways to Engage

Mercury the Trickster stops to fasten his sandal.(Wikimedia Commons)

Hello, everyone.

Three times a year, Mercury enters its retrograde phase for three weeks.  Mercury retrograde is an opportunity to turn our attention from our normal “pedal to the metal” style of thinking to a more reflective and inwardly-tuned focus.

This may sound inefficient but it’s actually an important part of our mental cycles to pause and review whether there are red flags that we’ve been moving too fast to notice.  The trepidation people often feel when they hear that Mercury is moving into retrograde motion stems from ignoring the cues to take a break from direct action and forward motion.  One of Mercury’s guises is the Trickster and he does have a way of getting our attention if we won’t occasionally slow down.

Retrograde Mercury signals a time when information from our unconscious mind can rise to the surface and come into conscious awareness.  While we’ve been moving full-speed ahead, our deeper self has been grappling with the issues and challenges that we don’t have time to address in our busy business lives.  With retrograde Mercury, solutions born of connections, synchronicities, and impressions that we may have missed along the way have an opportunity to present themselves.  New information will emerge if we stop trying to figure it all out with our logical, left-brained minds.

So if you don’t take direct action during this time, what do you do?  We obviously don’t want to just drop the ball and say, oh, Mercury is retrograde so I’m going to the beach for three weeks.  (Or do we?)  While we put our current plans on the back burner, this is an excellent time to examine past actions and correct any loose ends that may be sapping our energy day to day.

The RE words are an excellent place to start.  Here are 10 actions you can take while you let your creative thoughts simmer for a while:

  1. Rebuild – Yes, I mean that computer system that you almost implemented but is still hanging everyone up with bugs every day.
  2. Recall – If you’ve got your own company “sticky accelerator” this is the time to ‘fess up to your customers and have them let you fix it.
  3. Recap – This is an excellent time to look back at your financial, marketing, or production efforts and see where the gains and losses have been to date.  Charts, graphs, and spreadsheets can tell the story of the past.
  4. Receive – I’m thinking about Accounts Receivable.  Do you know where your receivables stand, how many days past due, which customers are behind?  This is the time to get clear about what is owed to you and to have the frank discussions with your customers to a committed repayment plan.  Don’t worry – it’s good for them with Mercury retrograde to clean up their debts too.
  5. Reciprocate – Do you owe somebody a favor, a dinner, a hand?  Have you been meaning to show someone how much you appreciated their recent help?  Now’s the time to express your gratitude in a tangible way.
  6. Recommit – What are the half-done projects that are sitting in file folders waiting for your attention?  Now is the time to review them and either recommit to them or put them away for good.
  7. Reconcile – Is there someone in your business or local environment that you’ve been at odds with, someone whose support you need?  This is the time to make the move to right the misunderstandings from the past and begin again.
  8. Reconsider – Look over the past few weeks.  Is there something you categorically rejected but keeps coming up in one form or another?  Get the facts in front of you again and see if there’s something you missed or new information that makes a difference to your decision.
  9. Refine – A great time to look at your systems and processes and refine your approach.  What can be done better, more efficiently?  What can be automated?  Can you reduce the scope while making it even better?
  10. Rejoin – Clubs, associations, charities. Have you let yourself become too busy or disheartened to attend to this aspect of your work? Are you still attending but your attention has wandered? This may be the time to rejoin, to give and receive, and to support your colleagues through this challenging year.

A4B Today – Uranus Back in Pisces

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

Today Uranus in retrograde motion moves back into the sign Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac. In case you missed it, this is what I wrote about Uranus in the monthly forecast for August:

In July Uranus entered its annual cycle of retrograde motion. During the entire month of July it slowly traveled back through the very first degree of Aries, and now in August it will move back into Pisces where it will remain until next March.

Since May 27, when Uranus entered Aries, we’ve been getting to know a new face of Uranus. Aries is the spark of entrepreneurial spirit, the initiating drive toward independence and individuality. You may have noticed new ideas incubating and a spirit of bold entrepreneurship in and around your business. But when Uranus moved into retrograde motion, there was probably a disruption in this full-speed-ahead current. You may now feel ambivalent or dissatisfied with your new ideas and initiatives.

And when Uranus moves back into Pisces there’s another major shift. Yes, this is familiar territory; Uranus was in Pisces for most of the last seven years, since March 2003. But it may feel bizarre to be stepping back in time. From our new entrepreneurial spirit we again enter the realm of collective ideas. From our recent forays into a new style of leadership, we fall back into flattened hierarchies and committee decision-making. From enhanced independence we’re back to collaboration and alliances.

Our whole society will seem to be taking steps backwards. Must be something more to learn!

Employee Engagement

In honor of Uranus retrograde and since Pisces is a sign concerned with the emotional connections between us, let’s re-look at the concept of employee engagement. An engaged employee is defined in Wikipedia as:

…one who is fully involved in, and enthusiastic about, his or her work, and thus will act in a way that furthers their organization’s interests …Engagement is distinctively different from satisfaction, motivation, culture, climate and opinion and very difficult to measure.

Yes, it may be hard to measure but we know it when we see it, don’t we? And we know it in ourselves, too. It’s worth our while to pay attention to employee engagement since some studies have found that engaged employees are up to 43% more productive and that there is an almost 52% gap in operating incomes between companies with highly engaged employees and companies whose employees have low-engagement scores. (Source:Wikipedia)

In case you don’t know what you can do to specifically foster engagement, here are some questions adapted from Workforce Management. Ask yourself these questions about your employees and then have a second go and ask them about yourself:

  • Do your employees know what is expected of them at work?
  • Do your employees have the materials and equipment they need to do their work?
  • At work, do your employees have the opportunity to do what they do best every day?
  • In the last seven days, have you given your employees recognition or praise for doing good work?
  • Do you really care about each employee as a person?
  • Do you encourage your employees’ development?
  • At work, do your employees’ opinions count?
  • Does the mission/purpose of your company make your employees feel their job is important?
  • In the last six months, have you talked to each employee about their progress?
  • In the last year, has each employee had opportunities at work to learn and grow?

How did you do? Let’s take advantage of Uranus back in Pisces to shore up our relationships with our employees, our colleagues, and all our business contacts. Pisces is the sign of cohesive unity and as I said above, we must still have more to learn about it. Let’s take a step back to examine the points above and address any weaknesses we find. Then next March, when Uranus moves into Aries again, we’ll have the fully unified force of our collaborators behind us to push ahead into new territory.

Have a great weekend!

A4B Today – August 11, Planning your Next Project

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

Yesterday with the New Moon in Leo, we talked about picking a new project, an audacious project to develop during the coming month.  Did you pick yours?  If not, later in this post I’ll give you some hints as to where to look.

Today the Moon progresses into the sign Virgo, continuing the emergence of the new inspiration born at the New Moon.  With the Virgo energy we can begin the transformation of our bold idea into a solid, useful product.  How?  Using the Virgo traits of analysis, practicality, and an orientation toward service.  The seed that sprouted at the New Moon just begins to take shape today and in order to continue to grow it needs the detailed planning that only the Virgo energy can bring.  It needs the systems orientation and the love of craftsmanship and simplicity.  It needs an organized approach.

The Virgo Moon also joins Mercury in Virgo today.  This is excellent for getting a plan or drawing down on paper; the beginning of a chronicle of your process to refer to and expand as the project unfolds over the next month.  This planning process will help you to recognize the resources and tools you will need to pull it off.  A cash flow projection will help you to recognize whether you have adequate cash on hand or whether you need to tap other sources of funds.  And a project budget will reveal the total costs involved.

This is the kind of analysis that Virgo loves, things with initials like ROI and EBT.  Today is the perfect day to get your project plan in writing.  You can do it yourself or bring your team in to help, pulling the pieces together over the next couple of days while the Moon is in Virgo.  The Virgo energy will give you excellent attention to detail so that as the month ahead unfolds you’ll have a firm foundation on which to build your work and delegate assignments, knowing you’ve considered every angle right from the start.  And if you realize you missed something as you go along, add it to the plan so it’s in place next time you begin a new project.

Hints for your new project

In case you didn’t catch your next project idea, here are some hints based on where the New Moon in Leo emerged in your chart.  The New Moon was at 17 degrees of Leo on Monday night.  Simply look at your natal chart or the chart of your business for the house that contains 17 degrees of Leo and read the hints for that house below.  See if these keywords spark the new idea that’s waiting to be discovered.  If you don’t have your birthchart, see the sidebar for how to request one from this site.

1st House – apparel, make-up, ornamentation, the body, fitness.

2nd House – money, personal finances, investments, jewelry, gemstones, soil.

3rd House – learning, teaching, news, books, writing, transportation, tools, telecommunications.

4th House – land, real estate, housing, domestic products, property, the elderly, parenting, ancestry.

5th House – fun, recreation, sports, romance, art, children, humor.

6th House – health related matters, diet, food, pets, human resources, gardens, employment, customer service.

7th House – partnerships, legal affairs, relationships, conflict resolution, contracts, negotiations, coaching, culture.

8th House – taxes, inheritances, insurance, banking, venture capital, shareholders, conception, birth, death, legacies, metaphysics.

9th House – adult education, publishing, global matters, law, medicine, travel, religion.

10th House – Leadership, self-employment, honors, parenting, executives, hierarchies, boards of directors, heroes.

11th House – Community, team sports, social networking, politics, corporate responsibility.

12th House – Hospitals, nursing, institutions, military, charitable organizations, the underserved, trends.

Have a wonderful day and please share your new project idea with all of us in the comments section.

Straight to the Point Response Update

Hubble Photograph (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Hello, everyone.

We just launched our new service, SPR or Straight to the Point Response, last week and already the questions are streaming in.  It seems that people really appreciate the personal style  (“I felt understood, perceived and reassured.”) as well as the information (“You are very insightful.  It was so helpful.”)

I encourage you to take advantage of this service.  It’s inexpensive and “straight to the point,” a quick and timely response to the business issues you are facing during this astrologically challenging time.

For the many new readers who join every day, here is the explanation of this new service.

Dear Friend,

Astro4Business is the premier astrological site combining business expertise and astrological knowledge. Ellen Longo, CPA, CFP has over thirty years experience in business ownership and executive level leadership and she brings this unique perspective to every astrological consultation.

Many readers of the Astro4Business Intersections blog have requested consultations with Ellen. We are offering a new service for busy business owners and leaders: the Straight to the Point Response (SPR for those who like acronyms.)

This is how the SPR works:

  • Email your specific question to ellen@astro4business.com. I will also need your astrological information if you are a new client. The charge for each response is $40 and will consist of a two page answer or a recording specifically related to you and your question.
  • I will send a PayPal invoice for you to pay online.
  • Within one week of the date we receive your payment, I will send your Straight to the Point Response.
  • After you have read or listened to your report, you are welcome to send up to three clarifying questions at no additional charge. (A clarifying question is a question you ask to make sure you’ve understood my response correctly.)

What kinds of questions are common?

Here are some examples of common questions. Of course, there are as many questions as there are specific situations; this is just to get you started. And remember, a general question will elicit a general answer; a more specific question will elicit a more specific answer; and the more background you can give me, the more the answer will meet your needs.

  • I am considering taking on a partner or investor. Is this a good time to make this move?
  • Is this a good time to open a branch office?
  • Everything seems challenging in my business right now. What’s the best approach?
  • What can I do to make sure my boss notices the work I’m doing?

A4B Today – August 3, Hold Steady

Good Day!

To take action or not; this seems to be the question on a lot of people’s minds these days.  Obviously we’re in a time of great change:  structures all falling, skeletons are coming out of the closet, people and institutions we relied upon in the past are no longer there for us.  We’re naturally inclined to want to change something in these circumstances and sometimes we feel that any change will be for the better.

When we are going through a time like this summer when the planets indicate a massive realignment of energies and priorities, it’s just as easy to make a bad decision as a good one.  In my experience, when the outer planets are active, as they are now, it can take months or even years to fully understand what the process was really about.  Someone just asked me this morning if I thought she should move ahead now and make a break with her career.  I know where she’s coming from, the conflicting planetary configurations of this summer are directly impacting her chart and therefore her business is being buffeted from all sides too.

These energies are massive, affecting world politics, the preservation of life on earth, the ability of people to freely express their highest desires, and when these energies reach this level of intensity we don’t always process them correctly while they are happening.  We have to get through them before we can discern what has changed and how we should respond to that change.

I’m sure you’ve experienced this.  You go through a period when life seems so volatile that it’s all you can do to just get through the day.  You have no perspective or context for the many upheavals going on around you.  Then when the smoke clears you can see the meaning and all the pieces fit together in a way you just couldn’t recognize when you were in the middle of it.

This time is like that.  Even though we feel pushed into making some kind of adjustment in our business lives, it’s best to wait a while.  There was a good example of this in the Harvard Business Review Management Tips today.  The article addressed how so often executives begin a restructuring project in their organizations just so they can take some action to address the problems.  Yet restructuring is most often a waste of time and money because it doesn’t address what is fundamentally in need of change in the company.

Let’s be smarter than those executives in our businesses.  Let’s take smaller steps, make incremental improvements.  Is everyone clear how decisions are made?  Does your team have the information they need to get their jobs done well?  Do you have the right people in the right positions?  Look at each of these in turn, rather than a massive restructure.

With the Sun in Leo and the Moon in Taurus today, our motto should be, “hold steady.”  Let’s not bite off more than we can chew, and certainly let’s not be tempted to act before the time is right, before we understand the truth about our situations, before we’ve taken everyone’s benefit into consideration.  This is not the time for change for change sake; it is a time for measured and skillful action supported by patience.
