Astro4Business Month Ahead – December 2010

Solar_system
Hello, everyone.

Welcome to the Astro4Business Monthly Forecast for December, 2010.  What are the planetary influences this month and how can we work with them?

  • We’ll start with the most long-range and overarching influences, the planets Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus, which you will notice do not travel far from month to month but stay in the same sector of the sky for many years.  These form the backdrop to our personal lives, affecting matters on a global stage.
  • Then we will look at the mid-range influences, Jupiter and Saturn, which stay in the same sign for 1 – 2.5 years.  These planets represent our interactions with our societal environment, its rules, regulations, belief systems, and benefits.
  • We’ll look at the personal planets, Mars, Venus, Mercury, and the Sun which stay in their respective signs for much shorter periods and primarily influence our day-to-day lives.
  • And last we’ll look at the sign and dates for the New and Full Moon, as these mark the waxing and waning cycles in our daily lives.

Pluto in Capricorn

We’ve spoken at length about Pluto in Capricorn (see category at right), where it will remain until 2024.  In a nutshell, this long transit will bring upheaval and transformation to many of the structures we have come to rely upon:  government, religion, the economy, industry, and the military, to name a few.  This transit carries the energy of revolution and evolution and can be dramatic and at times overwhelming.  Pluto exposes what is hidden, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse.

Pluto hastens and intensifies the processes of endings and new beginnings, and in Capricorn will bring about the ending of our business pursuits that are no longer suited to our growth and personal evolution.  Whatever has been slowly leaking vitality will depart, including old business models, practices, and products.

This is formidable energy, and your best strategy is to tune in and work with it.  Find an area in your business life in need of renewal and begin the process before Pluto reaches planets in your chart and forces the issue.

Everyone with planets within the first three to nine degrees of any sign is actively dealing with this energy.  You’ve probably noticed a deeper and deeper probing and cleansing all year long, related to the issues mentioned above.  Try to open a large space within yourself for a whole new perspective; be willing to become new and to irrevocably let go of something that has become outmoded.  Pluto transits can be difficult, but when the work is done they are the most rewarding because we are permanently freed from a long-standing, but hidden, issue.

Neptune in Aquarius

With Neptune in Aquarius (see category at right) from 1998 to 2011, we’ve seen a growing global consensus regarding the equal value of all beings, shared responsibility for our planet, the distribution of technology to all corners of the world, and the right of each person to contribute to and further the base of common knowledge.

The best way to work with this energy is to allow yourself to open to waves of inspiration from the collective whole, from your local community to the global community.  Expect to be inspired by your neighbors and friends, both near and far.

If you have planets between 26 and 29 degrees of any sign expect to experience a subtle but powerful dissatisfaction with certain areas of your life and a yearning for a more meaningful connection to others.  Pay attention to non-intellectual sources of knowledge such as dreams and art.  Feel what is happening, listen for underlying currents rather than what is apparent on the surface.  This disconcerting influence can dissolve the forms in our life which have no real content for us anymore.  This can be disorienting and confusing while it is happening but once deeper connections are made, the benefits are rewarding and long-lasting.

Uranus in Pisces

Uranus is the final planet to regain direct motion this year.  After it comes to stillness and begins moving forward again on December 5 we will see a turnaround in all business matters influenced by the planet:  industry structures; innovation; new technology; invention; community impact; creative destruction; and rapid response, to name a few.

When the planet entered Aries last May, we began getting to know a new face of Uranus. Aries is the spark of entrepreneurial spirit, the initiating drive toward independence and individuality.  You may have noticed new ideas incubating and a spirit of bold entrepreneurship in and around your business.  But then Uranus moved into retrograde motion and there was probably a disruption in this full-speed-ahead current.  You may have felt ambivalent or dissatisfied with your new ideas and initiatives.

When Uranus moved back into Pisces in August there was another major shift. Yes, this was familiar territory; Uranus was in Pisces for most of the last seven years, since March 2003.  But it may have felt like stepping back in time.  From our new entrepreneurial spirit we re-entered the realm of collective ideas.  From forays into a new style of leadership, we fell back into flattened hierarchies and committee decision-making.  From enhanced independence we returned to collaboration and alliances.

Uranus continues through the last degrees of Pisces for the next few months.  With the resumption of direct motion you may experience a rush of pent-up desire for change.  And yet, until it passes into Aries again in March, we are finishing up old business in an old style.

If you have planets between 26 and 1 degree of the next sign it’s time to let yourself be excited by something new; branch out, experiment, try new things.  Support a cause you believe in and invest your time in societal change.  This will positively channel the excess nervous and intellectual energy Uranus can bring.

Saturn in Libra

In July, Saturn entered Libra where it will stay until October 2012.  Saturn is exalted in Libra which means it has a special affinity to the sign and if you’re willing to do the work, there is a promised payoff.  See the category to the right on this important transit, but in a nutshell:  what is the work of Saturn in Libra?  To develop patience, persistence, responsibility, and humility in relationships.  What is the payoff?  Cooperation and mutual support.

Last August, Saturn formed a difficult aspect to Pluto in Capricorn (see above.)  The stress of this aspect revealed the decay beneath structures in our businesses (and our world.)  Now the Saturn energy is building the Libra values of equity, parity, diplomacy, collaboration, and cooperation on the ashes of the past.  Saturn brings a serious and responsible attitude to this time, especially in the areas of partnership and business relationships.

Jupiter in Pisces

Let’s review where we’ve been with Jupiter, so we can tell where we stand now.  In June, Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and expansion, entered Aries.  Aries is an initiatory sign and Jupiter thinks big.  Your former goals may have felt too limiting and you may have experienced a passion for growth, expansion, competition, and claiming new territories

Then Jupiter began retrograde motion in July.  You may have found your enthusiasm flagging for your new products and plans.  The forward momentum you’d been enjoying may have reversed, and you felt more restrained.  This has been an important phase for realistically assessing how much we can get done, to curtail overdoing and over-committing, and to take the time to slowly grow a project to completion.

In November Jupiter resumed direct motion.  You’ve probably felt enthusiasm and forward momentum returning to your workplace.  You can begin to think big again and the energy of Jupiter direct will support your efforts.  Take the promotion, take the risk, buy that lottery ticket!

Mars in Sagittarius/Capricorn

On December 7, Mars, the planet that represents our drive, energy, and will enter Capricorn.  Capricorn is a fantastic position for Mars.  Mars in Capricorn is focused, patient, and unrelenting in the pursuit of goals, especially business and career goals.  Mechanics and engineering are supported when Mars is in this sign as Capricorn gives entrepreneurial Mars the patience to devise and revise until a product is perfected.

Since Mars in business represents your second tier of leadership, expect your managers to step up and willingly take on more responsibility over the next few weeks.  In fact, they may demand it!  If you’re planning promotions, wait until after the 7th and then move ahead.

Venus in Scorpio

Venus re-entered Scorpio on November 29.  Venus represents pleasure and in Scorpio, happiness is found in emotional and material security.  You may worry more than usual about the balance in your cash accounts and focus your energy on stabilizing your finances.  However, you could go overboard if you are too passionate in your pursuit of security.

Be careful with this one:  permanent alliances can be formed when Venus is in this sign but irrevocable separations can be just as likely.  Long-lasting contractual or financial agreements can be gained at this time but may contain an element of intrigue and the possibility of betrayal.  Review everything carefully and if there are unspoken emotional undertones, make sure you get them out on the table before you commit.

Mercury in Capricorn/Sagittarius

Mercury entered Capricorn on November 30.  Mercury in Capricorn is ideal for planning and strategy, so if you still have your 2011 business plan in front of you, set time aside to work on it between now and December 18th.  From the free-wheeling Sagittarius energy we’ve entered a much more serious frame of mind.  You’ll see a heightened ability to concentrate and deliver on promises.  Watch out for a tendency to lose your sense of humor just when you need it most!

Mercury spends from December 10 to December 30 in retrograde motion.  In Astro4Business we understand the value of retrograde motion and welcome this time of review.  In fact this is a great time to look back over the year and analyze what worked and what can be improved.  See the links below for good information on how to handle retrograde Mercury.

Due to retrograde motion, Mercury will slip back into Sagittarius on December 18 which will be great for the holidays (as long as you can smile through travel snafus) but not as good for serious planning.  When Mercury is back in Sagittarius we may miss the details of the present because our minds are captivated by the future.  Try to count to three before making any snap decisions.

Sun in Sagittarius/Capricorn

Geometry of a Lunar Eclipse. (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

The Sun begins the month in Sagittarius.  This is a friendly, outgoing, optimistic time, the beginning of the holiday season.  In fact, we may tend toward over-exuberance as we know we are sliding into the Winter Solstice in the northern hemisphere.  Increased sales are favored under Sagittarius and a generosity of spirit with employees and coworkers is a great use of this energy.

When the Sun enters Capricorn we begin the season of renewal as we celebrate major seasonal change.  The Equinox marks the beginning of Summer in the Southern Hemisphere and the beginning of Winter for us Northerners.  It is a time of resolutions and annual planning, supported by the Capricorn qualities of patience, persistence, efficiency and practicality.

Phases of the Moon

The New Moon is in Sagittarius on December 5, waxing to full in Gemini on December 20-21 (depending on your time zone).  The Full Moon is also a total Lunar Eclipse, one of the two lunar eclipses each year.  If you look at the graphic to the right, you’ll see how the Sun’s energy is blocked at the moment of the Full Moon. This can curtail the normal cyclic fulfillment of projects and goals this month, a wrench in the works.  If it directly contacts a point on your chart its influence can be felt for about six months.  This month’s Lunar Eclipse is at 29 degrees Gemini.

Monthly Recap

A lot of Capricorn energy this month, with Mercury, Mars, the Sun, and Pluto all spending time in this serious, practical, and ambitious sign.  Business will be on our minds and we’ll have the energy to take our plans forward.  We’ll be supported by three planets in superb placement:  Saturn in Libra will give us responsibility in partnership; Jupiter in Pisces fosters a spirit if interdependence and cooperation; and Mars in Capricorn gives focus and direction to our drive.  And don’t forget to check your chart to see if 29 degrees is highlighted; if so, the Lunar Eclipse will be prominent for you.

In case you are wondering how to get the most out of this monthly forecast, check out this link.  Some time ago a reader asked about it and you’ll see my instructions when you follow the link.

Astro4Business Weekly Forecast – Revving Up & Cycling Down

Hello, everyone.

This week the Moon winds down, losing light until it merges with the Sun at the New Moon on Sunday.  Despite this general loss of energy there are also several important aspects during the week which will require us to step up and exert ourselves.  Take extra special care of yourself this week.  These are conflicting influences which could tax your body.  Rev up when you have to, and then cycle all the way down when you can.  Massage or long slow walks will help keep you in balance.

Monday

On Monday Venus re-enters Scorpio, covering the same ground she passed over in early September and early November.  You may see matters come back to the table for negotiation, this time with much more information and understanding of the people involved.  The moving parts will make more sense to you now and you may wish to re-organize (one more time!) in order to get the proper players into the proper positions.  Your efforts will pay off this time as Venus will stabilize in direct motion now for the next eighteen months.

In your business operations you could see a parting of the ways today, perhaps one part of your team veering off in a direction that the whole group won’t understand.  With Mars in Sagittarius challenging Jupiter in Pisces, it’s up to you to stand on the balcony today and make sure you understand the patterns which are evolving.  You’re the one with the long view and you’re likely to have a better sense of future opportunities than any of the conflicting factions.  You may have to make a judgment call to curb overconfidence or impulsive actions.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, Mercury leaves Sagittarius and enters Capricorn.  From the free-wheeling Sagittarius energy we’ll enter a much more serious frame of mind.  You’ll see a heightened ability to concentrate and deliver on promises.  Watch out for a tendency to lose your sense of humor just when you need it most!

Mercury in Capricorn is great for planning and strategy, so if you still have your 2011 business plan in front of you, set time aside to work on it between now and December 18th.  Due to retrograde motion, Mercury will slip back into Sagittarius which will be great for the holidays but not so good for serious planning.

Wednesday

With a supportive aspect between Mercury in Capricorn and Venus in Scorpio today, you will see conversations flow, good news, and a spirit of compromise and agreement.  This is an excellent day to buy new equipment, especially computers and the like.  This is one of the days this week when opportunities for growth may present themselves and ideas start to take on lives of their own but remember, we’re also winding down to the New Moon.  This is not the week to initiate a new endeavor but that doesn’t mean we can’t gather good ideas and dream a little.

Thursday

Thursday’s another tricky day considering the phase of the Moon.  It’s definitely not a time to initiate new action, but on the other hand initiatory Mars is in excellent aspect with intuitive Neptune so the urge to act will be powerful and possibly warranted.  This is a particular day to take care of yourself if you feel there is an opportunity just too good to pass up.  Go for it, but rest, too.  In fact, it’s in the resting that the best of the inspiration may come to you.

Friday

Today we enter the balsamic Moon phase, the dark of the Moon, when all of nature slows down and becomes still.  This is a fantastic phase for intuition, for tuning into the future and receiving inner guidance about what is coming next.  New approaches to old problems can suddenly rise to the surface if you allow an “empty, dormant interlude between [the] two cycles to do its mysterious work.” (Rael and Rudhyar, Astrological Aspects)

Ah, but letting ourselves be dormant will be tough today with a Mars/Uranus aspect: we’ll more likely be chomping at the bit!  We’re tired of waiting, we’re tired of stalling, and most of all we’re tired of everyone else’s opinions about what we should do.  Today we’re willing to fight for freedom from restraint, and as the leader of your team I must warn you:  everyone else is willing to fight too.  This can be a tense, stressful day as everyone tries to meet their own personal needs, possibly without regard for anyone else.

This aspect is valuable; it’s about trying to square the need to move ahead with the knowledge that there is more to be revealed.  You may not be able to avoid decisive action today despite the phase of the Moon and you may run into more push-back than usual from your team.  It will be up to you to stand your ground.

Sunday

Sunday is the power day of the week.  It begins with the New Moon in Sagittarius.  The New Moon brings a release of energy and new possibilities at every level.  Wait a couple of days to take action though.  On the actual day of the New Moon it’s hard to discern the difference between what you wish for and what has true potential.

Next, Mercury meets Pluto in Capricorn.  This aspect has the potential to expose hidden dysfunction in your business and bring practical solutions to overcome it.  It can also expose hidden resources, both talents and financial strength you were unaware of which can lead to a whole new beginning for your company.  Major change may not be accomplished in a day or even a few weeks; this is the very starting point in the Mercury/Pluto annual cycle.  But respect and document what comes to your attention today.  Great power and potential can be released into your mind.

And then last but not least on this incredible day, Uranus, the last planet in retrograde motion this year, makes its station and resumes its normal direct motion.  This signals a turnaround in all business matters influenced by the planet Uranus:  industry structures; innovation; new technology; invention; community impact; creative destruction; and rapid redirection, to name a few.

So I’d say we have our hands full this week, wouldn’t you?

Astro4Business Weekly Forecast – And Some News

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Hello, everyone.

If I had to pick a theme for the week, I’d say it will be finding the balance point between our desire to expand, look afar, and interact with foreign soils, and our need to care for the emotional needs of others.  We’ve got lots of fire sign energy this week, with its motto “Don’t fence me in!” and lots of water energy, with its motto “Connect!”

We’ll all have to be careful not to polarize and take the side that is easier or more familiar to us and blame others for playing the other role.  If you tend to more fire, then you may feel that others are trying to trap you with their demands.  And if you tend to more water, you may feel that others are not as caring and careful as you are.  But both energies are at play this week and the more we can claim both sides ourselves, the smoother the week will go.

Monday

The Sun moves into Sagittarius today and it’s your astrologer’s birthday!  Sagittarius ushers in the time of year when our impulse is toward celebration and freedom.  I’ve always thought it was a reaction to the darkening of the days in the Northern Hemisphere; merriment in the face of the death all around us in the month before the Winter Solstice.

And for you Southern Hemisphere people it seems a natural celebration of the growing light, with all the hope it contains, the possibilities for expansion which are the heart of Sagittarius.

Tuesday

After the Full Moon on Sunday bringing our ideas and projects to fruition and display, this is the first point of adjustment, with a quincunx between the Sun in Sagittarius and the Moon in Cancer.    Today we must adapt our plans to the needs of others, adjusting to the pull of emotional ties.  As great as our vision is, at this phase of the Moon we have to accept what is instead of what could be; this is the time to recognize the realities of our situation and take practical steps to align ourselves with these realities.  And the realities are likely to include the impact of our plans on our employees and family.  It’s the natural time to scale back and compromise.

Thursday

Today holds a square between Mercury and Jupiter, a day when we’re peering out the window yearning for distant pastures, but our duties and/or morals require us to focus on emotional connection.  It’s not all challenging though, because both Mercury in Sagittarius and Jupiter in Pisces understand the need for the imagination to roam.  How about roaming with a different group, or adding some eclectic members to your tribe?  If you’re celebrating the holiday, how about a different sort of festivity?  Service to others would be a great use of the energies of day, especially if there was a learning component involved.

If today is not a holiday for you, then I would schedule time for some wandering with others:  bookstores, museums, libraries, your local university.  All these activities take advantage of the day.

Friday

Today is the day to bring your project home, fully realized and perfected by the feedback you received earlier in the week.  The Sun and Moon move in harmony today in fire signs, so it’s time to cast a wider net and display your new product or project.  If you’ve scheduled a customer demonstration, everyone will appreciate a bit of dramatic flair.  Don’t be afraid to let your light shine today.

If you’re in retail, you know today can be one of the best days of the year.  Really go all out with lights; go over the top.  Today is a natural for a sense of fun and optimism.

Saturday

Today Mercury in Sagittarius forms aspects to both Neptune in Aquarius and Uranus in Pisces.  This indicates information and communications coming in from far and wide.  You’ve probably been yearning for some new images or input; they will come today if you look outside your local community to global interaction.  And yes, over the internet is certainly a possibility.

Sunday

On Sunday we reach the 3rd Quarter Lunar phase.  It may feel too soon but it’s time to start letting the last project go, handing it off to others for further implementation.  With the Moon in Virgo your best move is to carefully and precisely hand it over to someone you trust.  Pass it on with specific instructions, even taking the time to document what has led to this point and your expectations for the future.  And then work on letting it go completely over the next week, to prepare open space for new inspiration at the New Moon.

And some news

Holidays and travel to London and Bruges are beckoning me; how can I refuse?  I expect my writing will be a little more spontaneous over the next few weeks as this Sagittarius goes exploring and making merry.  I think the best idea is to subscribe via the RSS feed above and then you’ll be notified by email whenever there is a new post.  I don’t want to lose touch with you.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Astro4Business Weekly Forecast – November 1 – 7

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Anonymous Flammarion woodcut (1888). (Source:Wikimedia Commons)

Hello, everyone.

What an interesting week this is!  Nearly every planetary relationship this week is waning – not just the Moon waning to the New Moon, but waning relationships between Venus and Pluto, Venus and Mars, Mars and Pluto, Mercury and Jupiter, Mercury and Uranus, and Mercury and Neptune.  In addition to all of this withdrawing planetary energy, retrograde Venus moves back into Libra.  Seems strange, doesn’t it?  I can’t wait to see how it all plays out and please share with us how your week unfolds.

Waning energy means matters are coming to a close, preparing for a new cycle to begin.  Our part is to let this happen, to let go of what is obviously ending whether these are projects begun in the last few weeks or initiatives in place since the beginning of the year.  If a matter has run its course, it’s much better to recognize it now than to tie up time and resources which could be used for more profitable endeavors.

The only energy moving in the other direction is the Sun and Saturn, and at the end of the week, Neptune resumes direct motion.  So let’s take a detailed look.

Monday

Something is begging to be revealed today: revealed, acknowledged and then left behind.  Since Venus is involved with both Mars and Pluto, there is another layer to be uncovered regarding a professional relationship or a financial commitment.  Are you sure your facts and figures are straight?  Is your staff telling you everything they know?

It would be a wise use of today’s energy to practice some MBWA, management by walking around.  Visit every desk or workstation and invite your staff to tell you something you don’t know, no holds barred.  Dig down deep; your freedom to move forward depends on some “inside information.”

Thursday

This is the upbeat day of the week with the only waxing aspect between the Sun and Saturn.  When these two are on the field the subject is leadership and management.  We all know these are two different skills, but in small business you wear both hats, don’t you?  It’s time to test a new management style, perhaps one you glimpsed about a month ago when the Sun and Saturn met in conjunction.

One client just shared with me today that due to her frustration at her staff not getting things done she is testing a new, more commanding style and seeing results. This is a very seasoned leader and manager but she knows there is always something new to learn, something to try and improve.  Today you could recognize this new direction.

With Saturn, you may encounter resistance; this is natural.  It may even be coming from you, your inner rebel who doesn’t want to do the work even though you know the outcome will be solid.  Or you may feel uncertain or hesitant; this too is a natural reaction to a new vision.  But there’s something more to achieve and Saturn instills the discipline to do it.

Friday

The Sun and Moon meet in the sky for the New Moon in Scorpio today.  If you can get a moment or two to yourself you may actually feel the release of energy or power, a new possibility stirring.  The actual day of the New Moon is not the time to begin something new.  It’s best to wait a couple of days and let your inspiration take form in quiet.  Even if you’re quite sure about the next stage in your business, try to wait until early next week to set it in motion.  The weekend may hold some surprises that will enhance your idea.

Saturday

On Saturday we get back to the down note with two waning aspects, one between Mercury and Neptune and one between Mercury and Uranus.  Mercury rules communications, data, and analytics and with the waning aspects it’s time to finish up a series of meetings and publish your reports.  The aspect with Neptune may make you feel there is still brilliance to be mined in your materials but it’s probably not true.  They were fine in their time but renewal will soon be necessary.

The aspect with Uranus today allows you to work constructively with a group to finish up and actualize a shared vision; expect radical and unusual viewpoints to arise and inventive solutions to technical difficulties.

Sunday

Neptune resumes direct motion on Sunday.  The change in direction can bring confusion or feelings of loss to the surface.  We may know we’ve been through a massive shift but we’re not at all sure exactly what has changed or how to practically apply it to our businesses.  It will take a couple of weeks to adjust to the direct motion and then you’ll see your creativity and inspiration soar.

Venus in retrograde motion reenters Libra today, a sign she rules.  When Venus is in Libra, we find our day-to-day happiness in relationships, art, beauty, fashion, and generally getting along and supporting each other.  We are more than usually accommodating and willing to compromise.  Our social instincts are fair-minded and our business relationships more intellectual and rational.

Until Venus turns direct on November 18 this is not a good time for new contracts or professional relationships, or for major purchases.  Continue to review and reevaluate, but no major changes until after the 18th.

OK – have a great week!

Astro4Business Month Ahead – October 2010

Solar_system
Hello, everyone.

Welcome to the Astro4Business Monthly Forecast for October, 2010.

Whatever has been slowly leaking vitality will go ahead and die, including old business models, practices, and products.

This is formidable energy, and your best strategy is to tune in and work with it.  Find an area in your business life in need of renewal and begin the process before Pluto reaches planets in your chart and forces the issue.

Everyone with planets in the first seven degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn is already dealing with this energy.  You’ve probably noticed a deeper and deeper probing and cleansing all year long, related to the issues mentioned above.  Pluto transits can be difficult, but when the work is done they are the most rewarding because we are irrevocably freed from a long-standing, but hidden, issue.

Neptune in Aquarius

With Neptune in Aquarius (see category at right) from 1998 to 2011, we’ve seen a growing global consensus regarding the equal value of all beings, shared responsibility for our planet, the distribution of technology to all nations, and the right of each person to contribute to and further the base of common knowledge.

The best way to work with this energy is to allow your rational mind to open to waves of inspiration from the collective whole, from your local community to the global community.  Expect to be inspired by your neighbors and friends, both near and far.

If you have planets between 25 and 28 degrees of any sign expect to experience a subtle but powerful dissatisfaction with certain areas of your life and a yearning for a more meaningful connection to others.  This disconcerting influence can dissolve the forms in our life that have no real content for us anymore.  This can be disorienting and confusing while it is happening but once deeper connections are made, the benefits are rewarding and long-lasting.

Uranus in Pisces

In July Uranus entered its annual cycle of retrograde motion.  During the entire month of July it slowly travelled back through the very first degree of Aries, and then in August it moved back into Pisces where it will remain until next March.

When Uranus entered Aries last May, we began getting to know a new face of Uranus. Aries is the spark of entrepreneurial spirit, the initiating drive toward independence and individuality.  You may have noticed new ideas incubating and a spirit of bold entrepreneurship in and around your business.  But when Uranus moved into retrograde motion, there was probably a disruption in this full-speed-ahead current.  You may now feel ambivalent or dissatisfied with your new ideas and initiatives.

And when Uranus moved back into Pisces on August 13 there was another major shift. Yes, this is familiar territory; Uranus was in Pisces for most of the last seven years, since March 2003.  But it may feel bizarre to be stepping back in time.  From our new entrepreneurial spirit we again enter the realm of collective ideas.  From our recent forays into a new style of leadership, we fall back into flattened hierarchies and committee decision-making.  From enhanced independence we’re back to collaboration and alliances.

Our whole society will seem to be taking steps backwards.  Must be something more to learn!

Saturn in Libra

In July, Saturn entered the sign of Libra where it will stay until October 2012.

Jupiter in Aries

Let’s review where we’ve been with Jupiter, so we can tell where we stand now.  In June, Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and expansion, entered Aries.  Aries is an initiatory sign and Jupiter thinks big.  Your former goals may have felt too limiting and you may have experienced a passion for growth, expansion, competition, and claiming new territories

Then Jupiter began retrograde motion on July 23.

In September Jupiter in retrograde motion re-entered Pisces.  The planet of opportunity and expansion, Jupiter is the ancient ruler of Pisces.  This brings a very positive influence to all endeavors that attempt to unite people based on a shared intention for the future.  While Jupiter is retrograde, efforts you attempted in the past should be reintroduced.  Jupiter retrograde in Pisces suggests we should work on re-connection. Repair the links you set up between people and your organization.  Reestablish venues for your employees to express their ideas creatively.  Rely on your intuition and feelings; show your employees, customers, and business associates your heart.  This will lead to expansion and profits.

Jupiter remains in retrograde motion until November 18.

Mars in Scorpio/Sagittarius

Mars entered Scorpio on September 14.  Mars is the ancient ruler of Scorpio and is very strong when it is in this sign.  As the famous astrologer Isabel Hickey said, fire (Mars) in a water sign (Scorpio) generates steam.  This is a time when we want to apply our will toward material and financial security and in the best of worlds, real progress can be made.  But Mars in Scorpio can also carry a ruthlessness and vindictiveness that we have to tame.  Develop ways to either let off that steam harmlessly or engineer it to further your goals and no one will get burned.

On October 28 Mars enters Sagittarius, a welcome relief from the Scorpio influence.  With Mars in Sagittarius, our competitive urges become sport, with a much more easy-going sense of winning and losing.   Since Mars represents your second tier of leadership, watch for an impulsivity that leads to too much risk-taking.  This is a friendly, breezy, optimistic position for Mars, good for sales, but not known for its stability or caution.

Venus in Scorpio

Venus entered Scorpio on September 8 and due to retrograde motion will spend a longer than average time in this sign.

On October 8 Venus enters retrograde motion for forty days.  During this period we become more introspective regarding our professional relationships and social interactions.  Look for a full post on this interesting phase later in the month.

Mercury in Virgo/Libra/Scorpio

Mercury begins the month in Virgo, enters Libra on the third, and then zooms into Scorpio by October 20.  While Mercury is in Libra, we’ll get some support for dealing with the less attractive tendencies of Mars and Venus in Scorpio.  Mercury in Libra is fair-minded and positive, although you may find yourself vacillating about decisions you normally make with ease.

When Mercury joins Mars and Venus in Scorpio, look for communications to become more subtle, with hidden agendas and covert power struggles.  Mercury in Scorpio brings a “fierce acuteness of mind”, according to astrologer Isabel Hickey.  This is a time to scrutinize all documents and take special care to be forthright and above-board in all your meetings and negotiations.

Sun in Libra/Scorpio

Leadership when the Sun is in Libra means making sure everyone is treated fairly, with respect, and that everyone’s voice is heard.  When the Sun is in Libra our focus turns to relationships, partnerships, and business negotiations.  It is a diplomatic, friendly, outgoing time.

When the Sun enters Scorpio on October 23, we can exhibit great creativity and resourcefulness, and we gain power from service, compassion, and humility.  This is a good time to be clear about your financial strengths and weaknesses and to make a plan to address any shortfalls.

Phases of the Moon

The New Moon is in Libra on October 7, waxing to full in Aries on October 22.  We’ll examine the lunar phases in the weekly forecasts in October.

Monthly Recap

There are no major changes in any of the outer planets:  Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.  Generally this will mean a continuation of the status quo in the world around us during the month, except the retrograde Venus may bring some touchy diplomatic situations to our attention on both global and personal stages.  Each of the personal planets spends some time in Scorpio this month, a sign of change and transformation.  Have your senses tuned beneath the surface for subtle messages and opportunities for financial and emotional exchange.

Good day, and welcome to a really interesting week.  In this post I’ll give you an overview of the week as a whole, and then in the daily blog we’ll go into each of these topics more thoroughly.  There’s not a lot going on but what is going on is a lot!

Overall, we’ve got the waxing Moon and the general energy of growth and reaching for the potential we recognized at the New Moon last Wednesday.  We also begin the week with Mercury standing still (at least it looks that way to us) and then resuming direct motion.  Both of these indicate that “the time to hesitate is through.”

Mars/Pluto/Scorpio

Then we’ve got a whole lot of Pluto/Scorpio energy in the mix this week.  This new emotional tenor began last week when Venus entered Scorpio and we can see a perfect example of this influence in the big blow-up between HP and Oracle.  In case you missed it, in brief it is a story of two long-time collaborators and competitors in conflict over confidential trade secrets.  It includes a spicy understory with a sexual harassment suit, intertwined technologies, a highly public firing, a shareholder suit, and an inappropriate personal relationship between a Wall Street darling company president and a former actress.  Is that enough Scorpio for you?  If there is time, I’ll unpack this story for you in astrological terms over the next couple of weeks.  It’s a great case study of the impact of Scorpio in business.

This week there is likely to be more of the same, both in the public sphere and within our own businesses, with the planet Pluto resuming direct motion.  Pluto has been in retrograde motion since April 6 and resumes direct motion on Monday.  When a planet becomes still in the sky just before changing directions, its power is said to be increased.  Since Pluto represents the collective survival instinct and the willingness to annihilate anything that threatens that survival, we can expect some very intense illustrations of this energy this week.

And to throw fuel on the fire, Mars, which represents our personal instinct for survival and conquest also enters the sign Scorpio this week.  Mars is the ancient ruler of Scorpio and is very strong and comfortable in that sign, so one more dose of Scorpio energy!

Jupiter/Uranus

Toward the end of the week we encounter the second of a series of three Jupiter/Uranus conjunctions, which is an equally powerful though not so confrontive configuration.  Jupiter represents expansion and Uranus represents innovation, but they are both in retrograde motion and have moved back into the prior sign of Pisces.  This could be an extremely creative time of seeding the next breakthrough in your business and we’ll certainly speak more about this later in the week.

More Mars/Pluto/Scorpio

There’s no respite over next weekend either.  On Saturday, Mars and Pluto are in harmonious aspect, and with these two in harmony, the rest of us had better run!  It reminds me of the bully and his sidekick in The Christmas Story, a movie I love and watch at least once each year at the holidays.  We may feel like a helpless child when up against these two as allies, and again we’ll unpack this more during the week.

And then on Sunday, the Sun and Neptune reach a turning point in Neptune’s retrograde cycle.  This point indicates a need to adjust to unseen powers or the sacrifice of a cherished goal.

So, that’s enough, right?  A lot of this will be acted out on the bigger stage but some of it will no doubt intersect with our own lives.  Try to be an observer of the energies.  I have a feeling we will all learn something important as this story unfolds.

Be sure to check back in each day as we investigate this interesting time.

A4B Today – September 10

Good Day!

Today the Moon begins to emerge from the aura of the Sun and heads out to bring our new idea into manifestation.  We should all know now what our next project is, what new process we will guide and shepherd to fruition over the next three weeks.

If you weren’t struck with inspiration in the last couple of days then this is a good time to commit to an idea or short project you’ve been meaning to get to but haven’t found the time.  There is a rising of energy now as the Moon grows to fullness and it’s time to catch that wave.  If you need ideas, think about Virgo and what Virgo loves.  Here are some ideas you can pick from:

  • Diet and health
  • Digestion and assimilation
  • Work and service
  • Employment matters; human resources projects
  • Pet-related matters
  • Efficiency and Documentation
  • Accounting and Analysis
  • Business Planning
  • Training and Delegation

I must tell you that I awoke on the morning of the New Moon with a tune on my mind, an original tune without words.  This happens to me occasionally:  I’m inspired with something that is far beyond my capabilities to actually manifest.  In the past I’ve been given entire novels, science experiments, fully written songs, and fully realized paintings as I come into waking consciousness.  Actually I usually have so many ideas that I can’t possibly pursue them all.  This is where the Virgo traits of discrimination and practicality come in handy.  But in this case I did get up and hum the tune into my digital voice recorder for later.

Today the Moon in Libra forms its first separating aspect with the Sun.  It’s like the idea that was conceived between the Moon and Sun has to change in order to grow.  With the Moon in Libra, it’s time to bring other people into collaboration early in the game.  In order to solidify your idea you need input from others.  Now is the time to share candidly and let other people contribute; in other words, during this lunar cycle your project idea immediately becomes a joint effort rather than a solo voyage.

And with the Moon forming harmonious aspects to Neptune and Mars later in the day, the people you involve may not be at the desk next to you.  Stay open to the possibility that the true aid may come from a meeting of far-flung minds.  If you can, use social networks and cloud meetings to flesh out your idea.

By next week, Mercury will have turned direct and then it’s full speed ahead!  Have a great weekend.

A4B Today – September 9 A Different Drum

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

Before I get into the passage of the Moon today, and she is dancing with some difficult partners, I wanted to note two things from yesterday.  Perhaps you noticed a shift in energy or expression as Venus left her own sign Libra and entered Scorpio yesterday.  Or maybe you noticed Jupiter leaving Aries and entering his own sign, Pisces.

It is one of the intentions of this blog to help us all to tune into a more subtle level of energies, myself included.  I think the more we can notice what is happening on the outside and the inside, the better business decisions we’ll make and, generally, the more successful we will be.  I often hear from people who share how satisfying it is when they are pursuing a certain course of action and then open this blog and find out they are right in tune with the planets.  And I admit I have the same experience.  Since I write these posts a day or two earlier than they come out, I forget what I’ve written by the time the day comes.  And then I get a pleasant surprise too.

Getting back to Venus and Jupiter, did you notice anything yesterday?  As an overall guideline, both of these planets are indicative of and concerned with our happiness and well-being.  Venus is more personal and Jupiter is a little more abstract, but they are both considered benefics in astrology:  energies you can count on for support, enthusiasm, and contentment.

Both Venus and Jupiter entered water signs yesterday, Scorpio and Pisces.  This indicates a natural shift toward emotional connection.  Water signs are reflective, responsive, and fertile.  Family, intimacy, and compassion are the realm of water signs.  Did you notice a gift or an opportunity in any of these areas?  I’m conducting a little research project, so if you did, can you leave a comment or shoot me an email?  I’d appreciate it.

OK, the Moon.  The Moon has quite a journey today.  Brand new, barely on her feet, she encounters all of the big boys of the past summer, running into Uranus and Jupiter in the early morning hours (MDT) while she’s still in Virgo. When she enters Libra she encounters Pluto in Capricorn and then Saturn in Libra.  Yikes!

This could have the effect of bringing all the “chickens home to roost.”  Each issue you hoped you left behind after the tumultuous summer may show its face again today, one after another.  This could take the form of meetings and memos reminding you of what still needs to be addressed, or intrusions on your time about issues you thought were resolved.  But luckily it won’t feel as stressful as a few weeks ago when we were in the thick of these conflicts.  Just remaining shards of a past you’ve left behind, as a great teacher once said.

The day ends with a Mars/Neptune alliance, which will help to soothe anything that was stirred up earlier.  The Neptune influence on Mars can be felt all week and it may seem to make your team less productive than usual.  That’s because they’re listening to a different drummer this week.  It’s best to let people delve into their creativity rather than require concrete achievements today.  And you, too!

Here’s a treat for you to celebrate Mars/Neptune.

Hello, everyone.

This week begins quietly with the last couple of days of the waning Moon leading to the New Moon on Wednesday.  Venus and Jupiter change signs this week and Mars forms a calming aspect to Neptune.  Mercury continues in retrograde motion until next Sunday, when it resumes direct motion for the next three months.  These are the days highlighted this week:

Wednesday

Wednesday begins with the New Moon in Virgo.  The New Moon is when the Sun and the Moon come together on the exact same degree of the zodiac.  Although it is the beginning of the monthly lunar cycle, it is not an ideal day for new beginnings.  A conception is taking place in the dark; it’s best to spend the day quietly listening for the quickening of a new idea.

Later in the morning (MDT), Venus changes signs and enters Scorpio.  This is a very interesting position for extroverted, social Venus, traveling through the sign of mysterious and hidden realms.  We’ll examine this thoroughly in the coming weeks, with guidance about how to best use this time in our businesses and the pitfalls to avoid.

Next month Venus will turn retrograde, an event that happens once every eighteen months.  With Venus in Scorpio and retrograde, the coming few months could be challenging in the areas of business that Venus rules:  financial strength, creativity, and professional relationships.  Twists and turns are coming, no doubt!

Also on Wednesday, Jupiter in retrograde motion re-enters Pisces from Aries, reestablishing the planet of opportunity in a sign he favors.  This could provide the antidote to Venus’ passage through Scorpio.  Jupiter retrograde in Pisces suggests we should work on re-connection. Begin today to repair the links that have frayed between you and your co-workers.  Reestablish venues for your employees to express their ideas creatively.  Rely on your intuition and feelings; show your employees, customers, and business associates your heart.

Thursday

On Thursday Mars is in harmony with Neptune, an influence that will be felt all week.  Mars represents how we apply our energy, effort, and will to realize our goals and ambitions.  Neptune refers to the collective, to the fashions and feelings that symbolize our times.  We will be unusually willing to act on our intuitions this week and to believe that our efforts make a difference in the world.

The Neptune influence on Mars may seem to make your team less productive than usual, but that’s just because they’re listening to a different drummer this week.  It’s best to let people delve into their creativity rather than require concrete achievements.  And you, too!

Sunday

On Sunday, Mercury resumes direct motion.  Before it does, Mercury slows way down so don’t be surprised if your mind seems even more unfocused during this final week of retrograde motion.  This is our last week to revisit and repair anything still lingering from the past.  Be sure to read Mercury Retrograde – 10 Ways to Engage to make sure all loose ends are tied up before Sunday.  After Sunday, it’s full speed ahead!

Have a wonderful week, and let me know in the Comments how it all goes.

A4B Today – September 2, Something in the Air

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

And I do mean good day, as the waning Moon in Gemini forms very nice aspects to Mars, Venus, and Neptune right in the middle of the working day.  Later in the evening there’s a square between the Moon and Uranus, but in a way that’s just more support for a vibrant, mental, adaptive day.

Air signs rule the day today which means this is an excellent day to connect, communicate, and collaborate.  Both Venus and Mars are in Libra which lends a creative, relational atmosphere to the day.  Bits of data will be zipping back and forth among people and I don’t mean just through the internet.  Don’t be surprised if you pick up an idea from someone before they have even verbalized it themselves, and if this happens, make sure you share the credit.

With Neptune in Aquarius joining the crew, look outside your local environment to the world at large.  People of all stripes are on the same wavelength today and your best input can come through your social media contacts.  Or if you’re the one with the message to share, be sure to get it out through your networks to as many people as possible.  It could go viral today.

You may find that today is ideal for bridging a gap between you and another person or group.  With so much air influence and Neptune on the scene, we are more likely to recognize our similarities than our differences with others.  We’re willing to come to terms with anyone who shares our worldview today, even a competitor or adversary.  If you get the opportunity, begin with a short chat and see if you can proceed into some real communication from there.  Speaking with ease and listening with care are both in the stars today.

Best yet, this is the day, par excellence, for handing off a project or idea to someone else to run with.  The waning Moon has begun its last week of the lunar month, which is the time to start letting go and emptying your workspace and your mind.  This will free you for the next impulse at the next new Moon.  With everything about communication in your favor today, it should be easy to teach and easy for others to learn.

There’s something in the air today – enjoy it and make the most of it.  (Disclosure: with a Gemini Moon and Gemini Rising Sign plus three other planets in air signs, I must admit I’m partial to a day like today!)
