Hello, everyone.

This week holds the New Moon, Venus assuming retrograde motion, and a couple of Mercury aspects to powerhouse planets.

Phases of the Moon

We begin the week with the Moon heading into darkness, just before the New Moon conjunction with the Sun on Thursday.  The first part of the week is a time for handing off, cleaning our desks, and preparing for the next new phase of the cycle.  It is a time for assimilation of what has passed and if there are still some loose ends lingering, you may have to just let them go.  The dark of the Moon is the midway point between the past and the future; an “empty, dormant interlude” according to astrologers Dane Rudhyar and Leyla Rael, which is quietly gathering the potential that will be released at the New Moon.

On Thursday we encounter the New Moon and by Saturday we enter the Crescent phase.  On the day of the New Moon it’s important to be open and aware, but it’s not the time for action.  Something new is being birthed but we won’t clearly recognize it for a couple of days.  As the new project, product, or task becomes more and more apparent, our role is to overcome any resistance, hesitation, or lingering doubts from the past.  A new cycle is beginning!

Mercury

Mercury, the planet that represents our rational thinking and communication processes, forms a couple of difficult aspects this week.  This can cause meetings, presentations, and negotiations to be challenging and tense.

The first contact, on Tuesday, is a square aspect with Pluto in Capricorn.  We’re likely to receive a message from the “powers that be” in our business life, one we may take as unfair or at least unbalanced in perspective.  What we learn may cause a crisis or a necessary reorientation.

We’ve been here before; this is an opportunity to react from a new perspective.  For example, if we hear from our banker that our loan has been denied, we have two choices.  We can react with hostility or fear or we can take this as a signal that there is another opportunity we have yet to explore.  Old ideas and past solutions won’t work this time; we have to adjust our plans while boldly reaching out for new answers.

On Friday, Mercury joins Saturn in Libra.  This is an annual event, great for business planning and gaining sage advice from a respected mentor or adviser.  Especially following the Pluto aspect of Tuesday, we may just hear the very key we were looking for:  a system, strategy, or partnership that will bring us out of the woods.

Venus

On Friday, which is Venus’ day, the planet of creativity, relationship, and assets begins 40 days of retrograde motion.  When a planet is in retrograde motion, its normal outward-focused function is reversed.  While powerful insights and progress can be gained, the normal activities of the planet may seem unavailable.  If you are normally socially extroverted, don’t be surprised to need much more time alone.  If your creative inspiration comes from contact with others, you may find you would much rather sequester yourself with your materials.  You could also find your recent progress with diplomacy and negotiations reversed for no apparent reason.

During this time, don’t automatically think you are losing touch with your staff, or assume your clients are disappointed.  Relationship reversals are normal during Venus retrograde.  We’ll explore this fascinating subject, including what to do and what not to do, more in a post later this week.

Have a wonderful week and let me know how it goes!

A4B Today – September 8, What’s New?

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

First an update on my SPR (Straight to the Point Response) Service.  I am so proud of the people who have gotten in touch.  The questions have been very practical and thoughtful and without exception have been clearly answered by looking at the astrology of the situation.  The movements of the planets really do correspond with the various phases of people’s lives, including their business lives.  Based on the consistently positive feedback, it has been very helpful to people to understand where they are in the cycles of their professional lives.

But that’s not why I’m proud.  I’m proud because I am starting to see these folks make changes in response to the information.  Knowing where they stand astrologically seems to free people to do what they had wanted to do anyway; the information simply verified what they were feeling.  Now as they share their progress with me I detect a clear note of glee as they proceed.  Whether they have changed direction, remained in their present circumstances, or branched out into something new, each one is courageously stepping forward, armed with the knowledge that they are in tune with the stars.  To all of you:  I wish you the very, very best and can’t wait to see what unfolds from here.  Bravo!

Have you felt the New Moon today?  You may experience a lower energy level but that’s because a lot of your focus is engaged in subtle detection of what’s new, whether you are conscious of this or not.  Something has been birthed, and in Virgo it probably has very concrete and practical applications.  It may be something related to diet or health; on the other hand Virgo also rules employment, labor, and our daily work so you might see potential in these areas.  It could easily reveal a need for change and transition, as Virgo is a transitional sign just before the equinox.  This whole lunar cycle could be about letting something go, but with a very detailed and specific plan to do so!  In a best case scenario, whatever is revealed will lead to a new spirit of service.

The worst case scenario for the New Moon in Virgo can be worry:  worry about employment or health; worry about your customers and contracts; worry about the economy and its impact on your financial well-being.  Try not to indulge in this kind of thinking.  If your situation is unstable, then do what Virgo does best:  gather a few trusted advisors and make a plan.  Make it thorough, practical, and step-by-step with spreadsheets, timelines, milestones, and all the rest.  Then follow it to the letter over the next month.  And don’t broadcast it!  Keep it for your eyes only and your trusted few.  You may be surprised how much confidence you will build in yourself if you follow the natural tendencies of Virgo.

Have a wonderful day.  You may detect the next clue in your business journey today.

A4B Today – September 7, Dark Virgo Moon

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

Even though many of us are back from the long weekend, don’t expect this to be an active, productive day.  We are in the very darkest phase of the Moon today, with the New Moon very early tomorrow morning.

The dark phase of the Moon is excellent for letting things go, clearing our desks, and preparing the space for something unique and new to come.  You could think of it as similar to setting up a new office for a coming employee or setting up a nursery for the coming birth of a child.

This dark phase of the Moon can be experienced in different ways.  It can be a time of anticipation, even excitement as you imagine and dream of the future.  It can also be a time of grieving over the ending of a beloved project or what did not come to pass.  It is a monthly phase of transition and is often a time of “not knowing,” which can be incredibly uncomfortable for action-oriented business types.

Today’s very dark Moon in Virgo is in aspect to Pluto in Capricorn, so the new may come as a mandate from the power centers in our world:  the government, other businesses, banks, insurance companies, the military.  Your marching orders will come, just not from the sector you might expect!

The Moon also meets with retrograde Mercury in Virgo today, which may bring a message about a concrete action you need to take…eventually.  Try to hold off for a couple of days.  It’s a good day for communication and for getting to the very heart of a matter that needs resolution, but not a great day to actually resolve the issue.  Just stay open, take in as much as you can, keep your senses peeled for the unusual and leave it at that today.

The seed of the new that is conceived at tomorrow morning’s New Moon may not become apparent for a couple of days, so hold tight.  Try not to jump in just to have something to do.  And rest and recoup, if you can.  For every time there is a season, and the season of activity will be here soon.

Hello, everyone.

This week begins quietly with the last couple of days of the waning Moon leading to the New Moon on Wednesday.  Venus and Jupiter change signs this week and Mars forms a calming aspect to Neptune.  Mercury continues in retrograde motion until next Sunday, when it resumes direct motion for the next three months.  These are the days highlighted this week:

Wednesday

Wednesday begins with the New Moon in Virgo.  The New Moon is when the Sun and the Moon come together on the exact same degree of the zodiac.  Although it is the beginning of the monthly lunar cycle, it is not an ideal day for new beginnings.  A conception is taking place in the dark; it’s best to spend the day quietly listening for the quickening of a new idea.

Later in the morning (MDT), Venus changes signs and enters Scorpio.  This is a very interesting position for extroverted, social Venus, traveling through the sign of mysterious and hidden realms.  We’ll examine this thoroughly in the coming weeks, with guidance about how to best use this time in our businesses and the pitfalls to avoid.

Next month Venus will turn retrograde, an event that happens once every eighteen months.  With Venus in Scorpio and retrograde, the coming few months could be challenging in the areas of business that Venus rules:  financial strength, creativity, and professional relationships.  Twists and turns are coming, no doubt!

Also on Wednesday, Jupiter in retrograde motion re-enters Pisces from Aries, reestablishing the planet of opportunity in a sign he favors.  This could provide the antidote to Venus’ passage through Scorpio.  Jupiter retrograde in Pisces suggests we should work on re-connection. Begin today to repair the links that have frayed between you and your co-workers.  Reestablish venues for your employees to express their ideas creatively.  Rely on your intuition and feelings; show your employees, customers, and business associates your heart.

Thursday

On Thursday Mars is in harmony with Neptune, an influence that will be felt all week.  Mars represents how we apply our energy, effort, and will to realize our goals and ambitions.  Neptune refers to the collective, to the fashions and feelings that symbolize our times.  We will be unusually willing to act on our intuitions this week and to believe that our efforts make a difference in the world.

The Neptune influence on Mars may seem to make your team less productive than usual, but that’s just because they’re listening to a different drummer this week.  It’s best to let people delve into their creativity rather than require concrete achievements.  And you, too!

Sunday

On Sunday, Mercury resumes direct motion.  Before it does, Mercury slows way down so don’t be surprised if your mind seems even more unfocused during this final week of retrograde motion.  This is our last week to revisit and repair anything still lingering from the past.  Be sure to read Mercury Retrograde – 10 Ways to Engage to make sure all loose ends are tied up before Sunday.  After Sunday, it’s full speed ahead!

Have a wonderful week, and let me know in the Comments how it all goes.

A4B Today – August 12, Ay-yi-yi!

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

Take care of all the nuts and bolts issues early in the day while the Moon is still in Virgo; once it moves into Libra at 4:42 PM MDT the fireworks will start.  Or should we say the fireworks will resume?

Did you pick your project to focus on this coming month?  This first week of the New Moon is the ideal time to initiate a venture and as the Moon begins to travel further and further from the conjunction with the Sun, our initial spark of an idea begins to take shape.  The New Moon took place in Leo this month which means both the Sun and Moon were in the flashy, creative sign of self-expression.  A new audacious idea was born.

Then the Moon traveled through Virgo for a couple of days, which put some structure around the initiative.  Ideally we wrote a project plan, did the financial projections, submitted the proposal, organized the resources we need, gathered the tools.

When the Moon enters Libra this afternoon it’s time to present our idea to others; to gather input and see where we need to bring in outside help.  It’s time to make the go/no-go decision but under the influence of the Moon in Libra we could waffle back and forth.  If you find yourself too indecisive, rely on your trusted advisers.  Tell them the plan, leave no stone unturned, and let them decide if your idea is worth pursuing.  And then you may do the same for them.  Everyone can use an outside eye when the Moon is in Libra.

But this month the Libra Moon runs right into the Cardinal T-square which is causing all the trouble this summer.  Late today the Moon opposes Uranus which can bring sudden unexpected twists and turns of fate.  Then a few hours later the Moon meets Saturn which can cause even your most ardent supporters to seem heavy-handed and too limited in their thinking.

Next the Moon opposes Jupiter which could cause the same people who just said no to expand the project beyond your comfort level.  And then within the hour, when the Moon is in challenging aspect to Pluto in Capricorn, resource issues may come to the fore and the cold harsh realities of your financial situation could block your progress.

Ay-yi-yi!  What to do?  Take heart, if any force can balance all of these energies it’s the Libra Moon with its natural propensity to bring fairness, diplomacy, and equal vision to the day.  And remember, the Sun is in Leo which means a strong leader can focus the energies of the entire team.  If you’re confident, others will be too.   If you’re bold and open to input, you’ll perfectly contain the energies of the later day.

Have an invigorating day!

A4B Today – August 11, Planning your Next Project

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

Yesterday with the New Moon in Leo, we talked about picking a new project, an audacious project to develop during the coming month.  Did you pick yours?  If not, later in this post I’ll give you some hints as to where to look.

Today the Moon progresses into the sign Virgo, continuing the emergence of the new inspiration born at the New Moon.  With the Virgo energy we can begin the transformation of our bold idea into a solid, useful product.  How?  Using the Virgo traits of analysis, practicality, and an orientation toward service.  The seed that sprouted at the New Moon just begins to take shape today and in order to continue to grow it needs the detailed planning that only the Virgo energy can bring.  It needs the systems orientation and the love of craftsmanship and simplicity.  It needs an organized approach.

The Virgo Moon also joins Mercury in Virgo today.  This is excellent for getting a plan or drawing down on paper; the beginning of a chronicle of your process to refer to and expand as the project unfolds over the next month.  This planning process will help you to recognize the resources and tools you will need to pull it off.  A cash flow projection will help you to recognize whether you have adequate cash on hand or whether you need to tap other sources of funds.  And a project budget will reveal the total costs involved.

This is the kind of analysis that Virgo loves, things with initials like ROI and EBT.  Today is the perfect day to get your project plan in writing.  You can do it yourself or bring your team in to help, pulling the pieces together over the next couple of days while the Moon is in Virgo.  The Virgo energy will give you excellent attention to detail so that as the month ahead unfolds you’ll have a firm foundation on which to build your work and delegate assignments, knowing you’ve considered every angle right from the start.  And if you realize you missed something as you go along, add it to the plan so it’s in place next time you begin a new project.

Hints for your new project

In case you didn’t catch your next project idea, here are some hints based on where the New Moon in Leo emerged in your chart.  The New Moon was at 17 degrees of Leo on Monday night.  Simply look at your natal chart or the chart of your business for the house that contains 17 degrees of Leo and read the hints for that house below.  See if these keywords spark the new idea that’s waiting to be discovered.  If you don’t have your birthchart, see the sidebar for how to request one from this site.

2nd House – money, personal finances, investments, jewelry, gemstones, soil.

3rd House – learning, teaching, news, books, writing, transportation, tools, telecommunications.

Hello, everyone.

This week is a week of respite from the conflicts and turmoil of this summer of transformation.  Oh, the turmoil will continue on the world stage but our business lives will be relatively removed from the fray, except for…

Monday

Monday is the only day this week that may host the kind of ups and downs we’ve been experiencing lately.  Generally the day of the New Moon should be a quiet day so we can hear the stirrings of the new idea or project that we will engage in throughout the coming month.  But today’s New Moon is accompanied by Venus stepping up to confront the issues represented by the current Jupiter/Pluto square.

Don’t underestimate the power of Venus in Libra.  It may seem like people are more accommodating than usual, and they will be, but that doesn’t mean they will stand for aggression or power plays from others.  If anyone is acting out around your business, someone’s going to challenge it today.

And there’s no smoothing things over; what must come out will come out and actually, with Venus on hand, this is a better day than most to address seething tensions or jealousy between team members.  Get the issues on the table and let everyone devise a better way to work together.  It may be grueling to try to reach harmony today, but it will go a long way toward molding your staff back into one cooperative unit.  And this will pay dividends over the month ahead.

Friday

On Friday, Uranus in retrograde motion slides back into Pisces where it will stay until next March.  Uranus was in Pisces for most of the last seven years, since March 2003, with just a brief stay in Aries, so this is familiar territory.  But it may feel bizarre to be stepping back in time.  From our new entrepreneurial spirit we again enter the realm of collective ideas.  From our recent forays into a new style of leadership, we fall back into flattened hierarchies and committee decision-making.  From enhanced independence we’re back to collaboration and alliances.  Even our latest ideas to break into new territory or develop new products may take a back seat to redevelopment or reinvigoration of projects from the past.  Turn your sights back; there’s still some juice in an older idea.

Have a wonderful week!

Astro4Business Forecast Today – May 13 New Moon

Source:Wikimedia Commons

Good Day!

Today is the day of the New Moon in Taurus.  The New Moon is the day each month when the Sun and the Moon are in the exact same degree of the zodiac, this month at 23 degrees of Taurus.

There are differing opinions about the energy of the New Moon.  Some astrologers suggest that the Sun and Moon are reinforcing each other on this day which makes it a great day to begin something new.  Others suggest that the Solar energy has so overtaken the Lunar energy that the Moon has disappeared.  They say there should be no action taken on this day as the imbalance of male and female may make us too inclined to act without the benefit of our subtle intuition.

I’d say that action is tricky on this day.  For one thing, most people don’t know the exact time of the New Moon and so some part of the day is the absolute worst time to begin something new:  the hours just before the New Moon.  And I perceive the exact moment of the New Moon and the hours just after as times of stillness.  Yes, there is something new forming but it is just at the point of conception and needs some time to quietly grow into emergence.  It would be easy to miss or misinterpret the signal you receive so soon after the moment of birth.

So I would pause today, especially since just before the Moon is new there is a challenging aspect between the Moon and Mars.  With the Moon in stubborn Taurus and Mars in over-confident Leo there is intractability to the highest degree.  A stand-off between a territorial Bull and an angry Lion:  not something you want to be in the middle of, especially since neither is likely to get its way.  Whether you’re the bull or the lion, the good news is the Moon moves quickly.  If you count to three (or one hundred) the impulse will pass.

By the way, the New Moon is exact at 9:04 pm EDT.  Add or subtract the hours for your time zone to calculate the New Moon where you live.  In some locations the New Moon is on May 14.
